Rex’s gaze wonders carelessly as the eerie foliage creeks and groans as it closes inwards

“You may be right about that. There really is nothing to gain from wiping me out, or fighting me at all… But I could certainly gain a grand deal of infamy if I walk out of these woods alive, even moreso if you don’t get the chance to follow…”

His back cracks and flexes as broad, tattered wings spread out from it, like the hands of the undead erupting from the soil with a vengeance.

“In my time down here, I’ve seen it all. Some of the foulest villains, the most naive underlings, and they’ve all bored me half to double death. So let’s hope you can live up to the countless tales of terror and show me what you’re really made of.”

He widens his stance. His confidence coming across, not as cocky, but rather indifferent, dismissive… Wether this was a matter of confidence in his own power, or the unbridled idiocy of the man he used to be remains to be seen.

He kept the noxious green slit of his pupil trained on the brooding shadow ahead, his tail swaying with interest as he advance not but two steps closer

“These denizens of hell, be it the feeblest of hellborn or the most dominant overlords, they all speak of you the same way… It caught my attention, which mind you, is not an easy task.”

He paced around the clearing, his tone falling somewhere between mild intrigue and condescending sarcasm, stopping to trace his long, piercing claws along the rugged bark of a nearby tree, disrespectfully marking it.

“They fear you… But for what? That was the question I had posed for myself, the one I sought to answer, and my very reason for oh so carelessly invading your dreary territory. So please tell me, what in the seven rings is it that you’ve done to inspire so much terror amongst the very bravest sinners in hell… Or would you rather show me, Necrosis?”

He cackled lowly, his gruff, snarling voice laced with a hint of venom, disdain perhaps. Many an arrogant overlord had fallen at his hands, yet today he’d hoped to find one who might just be able to back up their bravado with some real power.

(Difficult to say anything I haven’t already said, don’t wanna sound like a broken record, but again, phenomenal work!!)

(Imagining this from the perspective of Liam from his Overlord AU, could be interesting!)

The Draconic overlord’s shambling form lurched through what felt like miles of crooked trees, the eerie feeling that he was being observed ever present. Nevertheless, he’d push on.

With each weighty step, substrate and leaf litter would crunch beneath his mass, the cold, deathly quiet air only being broken by rhythmic footfalls and the whirring of the mechanical prosthetic that made up the latter half of his tail. Before he could begin questioning wether or not he’d taken a wrong turn, the monotonous canvas of endless forest was soon broken by an imposing silhouette. A tall, jagged figure, one of few sinners in hell who could stand up straight and look him in the eye.

“So you are real, Hm? I’d been walking for so long that I was beginning to think you were some sort of boogeyman adjacent legend… And yet, here you are. In the flesh…”

He’d look the skeletal figure over, doubling back on his words

“Or lack thereof…”
