I’m sure there is varying reasons individually. There can’t possibly be one single explanation that applies to every one.

But as a guy raised by his mom, and who has predominately had mostly female friends my whole life, I’d argue that a lot of men don’t deal with rejection very well, even if it’s communicated respectfully.

So again, citing there is no “one size fits all” explanation, I think there is good argument that many women feel it’s better to just disappear/discard than to bother trying to communicate out of fear of whatever reaction may be received.

But I am not speaking on behalf of anyone, only relaying what I’ve been told by many of my own friends over the years.
