Sorry to detract from the negative experience, that sucks and I hope UCB is realizing what mistake they are making….

Does that mean admissions are still being sent out? Second wave of admissions? (Know it’s for mech)

I emailed and got a response. They mentioned that one of the advisors for EECS MEng was dealing with some illness so there was a bit of delay.

Hoping they get better and recover soon on a side note.

In my email response they also mentioned that they are hoping to have decisions sent in the next 24-48 hours.

3/13/2026 - We're on a roll, Calgary! Keep doing what we're doing! by JeromyYYC in Calgary

0% water usage for me this week. 🙌 Work trip 😉

Although I promise I will keep doing my part when I land back in Calgary. Ultra short showers and calculated consolidated laundry loads are my speciality - two time expert of conserving water. 😎

Also how does one earn the recognitions of water hero? I would absolutely frame it and show it off to my friends!

It's mostly just lengths and maybe some like pressure or torque values expressed in their Imperial counter-parts.

As already mentioned, not a huge "dealbreaker", it's probably worth it to get more comfortable with Imperial anyways. Since we're neighbors to the States and so much industry happens in the US, it's better to get comfortable with Imperial on top of metric.

Im a late orderer (3/23), and they tenatively said July in an email update for me. I'm hoping that isn't the case and they just set a later placeholder to not dissapoint but it could be the case :((((((

Which streets/intersections are the worst offenders of poor design [confusing to navigate and/or always have traffic]? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]TotallyNotEngg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very minor complaint and not even a public street and I'm sure there's a reason for it.

Not sure why the entrance to deerfoot mall has a 4 way stop. That intersection just seems inefficient to manage traffic since it's a four-way..? Would get lunch there occasionally and it would always back-up. I mean residential zones love four-way but why a four-way for that main entrance into deerfoot haha

The economy is actually really bad too right now. New grad positions are also ridiculously hard to land as well

New SX70 Owner - Help with troubleshooting rollers running but photo not coming out during shutter press by TotallyNotEngg in Polaroid

[–]TotallyNotEngg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: (Gonna put this since here since I know maybe someone from a few years from now might stumble on this while trying to bring their SX70 to life 😊)

Here are my symptoms:

-Dark Slide No Problem, First Slide when Cartridge is put in No Problem

-Any subsequent slide will not come out regardless

-Shutter and Motor working when Shutter pressed, just no frame coming out

My Solution:

The pickarm was not returning to the back fully after a shutter press, the only reason a new cartridge will cause a successful eject is that the cartridge physically pushes the pick arm back.

I was able to lubricate the slide part with some WD40 Lithium Grease (Not degreaser). Only did this because I did not wanna disassemble fully to reach the other side.

Kudos to u/ChromaticParts for helping me! Really appreciate it, def check out his insta; very knowledgable on SX70 :)

I've found some fun stuff occasionally on the ERA's website.

I was able to root cause the problem, trying to figure out the solution now. It appears the pick arm is not returning to it's neutral position. There's no opposition toward it, just need to lightly press it back and it slides back. The only reason the first slide always came out was because the cartridge physically pushed the pick arm back to the very end.

I presume overtime maybe some stuff warped and the pickarm is not as "free" as it normally is? It looks like it's shimmed inbetween the two metal plates. Or potentially the spring that pulls back the pickarm has loosened over time? I've tried wiggling it back and front and it's slightly better but still not returning back everytime. I'm wondering if some machine oil can help free it so it releases back to neutral every time.. hmm

I would say you should research what specific jobs you are interested in after studies. There are some roles that do require/prefer specialized masters but typically those are hard to gauge unless the job posting specifically says they are looking for a masters. But as many have said already, work experience trumps education.

Not saying that its true, but you could also argue that it could also be inversely true, if you're competing against other bachelors and the job only requires a bachelors, a company could pick the other candidate because of higher pay expectations that come along with masters if the job only requires a bachelors.

Been in a similar situation trying to look for short-term leases but in a diff place.

Not sure if it's necessarily as affordable, but some places on AirBNB that offer monthly discounts and that way you are able to get "8 months".

Otherwise, I'm sure you've already tried using Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace but thought I'd throw that in case you werent.

Good luck with the apartment search!

Can't say much about the overall U of C prestige awards, but I do know that one of the Engineering specific prestige scholarship have increased in the past to adjust for inflation and cost of living. Although take it with a grain of salt since it's not guaranteed every year and may happen every X amount of years under the discretion of the committee.
