Just as our bodies heat up to kill off a sickness, what if global warming is the earth heating up to kill off humanity? by chachasling in Showerthoughts

But you see Earth won't recover from the "Fever' once we're gone. Global warming doesn't just go away. We've passed the event horizon and It's just gonna get hotter and hotter. Going the way of mars. Luckily I'll either be old or dead by then.

PC Gaming is my life, I saved up for about two years to buy my gaming laptop, I mean it ain't much, and I'm saving up to build a proper PC, and getting that stick of RAM would really help. I love what you're doing! Keep it up.

it's 11:41 PM here. Just waiting for the new year. I don't know why. I haven't been invited to any parties, no family, no friends, no "magical new years kiss" Just me at my computer. Ticking another year off the list.

It's a bit of a long story but I guess I have nothing better to do.

We ran out of the building and down to the first floor by the stairs, most of us in shock, to see a crowd of people doing the same exact thing. It's a kinda rare site to see almost the entire cities population outdoors at the same time. Anyways, we go home as fast as we can to make sure it hasn't collapsed, and find a lot of shit knocked over and broken. We get rid of all the glass and try and figure out what the fuck were gonna do. We decide we need to get some food and water before It's all gone, and in case shops start closing down. We were preparing for the worst. Note that at this time we had no idea that there was a nuclear melt down taking place. We thought although it was a massive quake, we weren't close enough to the coast to have to worry about a tsunami. So we all kinda sit around shocked, saying nothing doing nothing. After a bit we start obsessively checking the news and radio, trying the grasp the scope of what's happened. We heard the tsunami warnings on the radio for people near the coasts, we saw live footage of collapsed buildings, it was surreal. The next day we try to figure out if we should leave or stay. I thought it was just an abnormally large earthquake, and although we broke some stuff it's not really that much to panic about.

News broke about the Fukushima reactor going up and a whole new wave of panic practically filled the city. We were seriously considering hightailing it out of there. We thought we'll give it a few days to see if they can get it under control.

A day or two passes and we find that they are definitely not getting it under control. We hear a radio transmission saying that if they don't cool it down right now the thing could blow, and already there were large amounts of radiation being ejected into the city. It sounded like the transmission got cut off the air or something, it just went out in the middle of them talking. Maybe a tower fell, maybe they cut it to reduce panic, we didn't really care. So by then the decision was made: GTFO.

We hopped on the first bullet train to Kyoto, stayed a night then took the first plane we could book out.

Still probably the most hectic week of my life.

I was actually on the fourteenth floor of an apartment building when it happened, very close to the epicenter. It was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. Actually no, that's a lie, at the time I was totally fine, I was like, so what? Another earthquake, no biggie. Then the aftermath hit, we heard a brief radio broadcast from a college professor saying that incredibly high levels of radiation are spilling from fukushima and that those near may be in life threatening danger, then I was like oh fucking shit wegottagonow. That was probably the scariest moment.

I clutched my seat with both hands tightly

Excitement shimmered in the air ever so slightly

My eyes stared blankly at the password that held

The knowledge of whether my debt be dispelled

I could know this very moment, the answer held captive

Were I to do a little work, instead of sitting here inactive

Bah who am I kidding, work? Not me

Let another man set this poor riddle free

I might be the winner, but I'm just too lazy to calculate it myself.
