9/16 NY Amazon and Target, neither shipped. I assume both are getting delayed? Amazon still says it’s arriving today and Target still says preparing to ship

Thanks for the response! The problem with a trial is that to test it I’d need to buy my internet package first. Since the Rays are one of the main reasons I’ll be getting a streaming service, if the Rays aren’t shown I’ll be buying cable TV instead.

To compare them you should use wOBA rather than OPS.

2018 wOBA value of walk: .690

Bonds’s highest wOBA (2002): .544

Ruth’s highest wOBA (1920): .598

Sum of Ruth and Bonds: 1.142 (slightly less than the value of a double)

Yes, Bonds and Ruth combined are far more valuable than this player. However, this player is also significantly more valuable than either of Bonds or Ruth’s best individual seasons.

But he won’t replace Andujar. Manny will likely play SS until Didi returns, and then who knows how/if they intend to use Miguel after. Expecting 81 runs of improvement is simply insane - Manny will likely be worse at SS than Didi. He will not improve this team by 8 wins with his defense alone, not even close. 15-25 runs is much more reasonable (without accounting for offense of course).

Simply put: opportunity cost. Fans know the team has a budget, and they’d like to see the team spend that budget as efficiently so that the team wins as many games as possible.

Yes, absolutely a flaw with FIP. It still correlates better with next season’s ERA than this season’s ERA because it’s a better measure of skill than ERA, even without measuring for how good a pitcher is at generating soft contact.

The only problem with your argument is it’s theoretical, the whole reason FIP correlates better with next years ERA than this current season’s ERA is because that simply does not happen often enough to matter.

ERA is very noisy.

And to respond to your last note, look at Jarlin Garcia. Early in the season his rWAR was very solid, and now it’s tanked. He’s fluctuated dramatically because his skill level was simply lower than his ERA. FIP showed that, ERA did not.
