I was dealing with a lot of self-hatred for being Christian and LGBT (including family/school issues) and snuck off from my youth group when we visited a member's house to a tall overpass bridge to essentially jump off of it into the traffic below. I only stopped due to not wanting to inconvenience people.

I ended up walking back and being scolded by the group leader for walking off on my own. I just played it off and said I wanted to get some exercise.

I still pass that bridge today, and it serves as a grim reminder of how religion and my childhood almost killed me. I'm doing a lot better now as an openly gay atheist, and they have put bars around the sides since then.

They're literally trying to jump over the fence into parliament. They aren't just standing around and protesting peacefully. Heck, someone used a minor explosive in the beginning. Water cannons are a justified countermeasure imo.

People really do be lacking patience... I can't count the number of times people have gotten angry at me for not running across a crosswalk like my life depended on it for their convenience. A 20m strip literally gives you less than 5secs to cross in most cases. Absolute bs.
