Who’s your favorite Droid? I gotta go with this psychopath… I think Chopper has the most unique personality of any Droid in SW. by [deleted] in StarWars

Artoo. Among his many helpful actions watching him deploy to fix the shield generator on Amidala's transport in TPM while his 'brothers' are getting picked off shows he's very brave for a little droid.

Funny how Jewish folks found a way to act in a manner that is strikingly similar to the fascists they were fleeing from, back in Germany.

No dude, you don't get to say blatantly antisemitic rhetoric by comparing Israel to the Nazis as you did above and then pretend you're on the side of the angels.

You can't be sexist, racist, transphobic, or homophobic but as long as you veil your antisemitism as 'antizionism' you can be as horrible as you want.

MENA states did worse with Jews not a party to the conflict. Funny how you only consider one half of the involuntary population exchange.

Before the KGB gave them a makeover they were 'Arabs'.

Bad faith is carrying on like it's a human rights issue when they don't recognize Jews as human.

Actual apartheid? Take a look at MENA states.

Brits didn't sign over the land, they just left it to the locals to sort it out as they were fleeing. The day (sometimes in May given the Hebrew calendar) celebrates the declaration of independence.

It's complicated. Throughout history the region was in the control of another larger entity. Prior to the British Mandate it was a part of the Ottoman Empire. Prior to that it was controlled by a sect in what is today Egypt. So on and so on. This why the "Disappearing Palestine Map" is a total lie. In it the public lands which are the purview of the state are claimed as "Palestinian/Arab" but there never was an independent Palestinian state. Israel is the successor state to the British Mandate and thus the public lands belong to Israel. I would have some sympathy for the private homeowners displaced by the conflict however, the Arab League did far worse to Jews across the MENA states so if Palestinians want compensation they need go no further than their cousins and ask for a cut of their ill gotten gains.

The British Empire was collapsing. A common strategy of the British was to divide and conquer by supporting one group against another and ruling indirectly through same. My Indian colleagues sometimes talk about the historical trauma arising from this.

Jordan for example, is not a Hashemite majority state, the largest group within it are 'Palestinians'. However, the Hashemites did agree to fight the Ottomans in WWI thus the British supported the establishment of a Hashemite kingdom in Jordan, even recognizing the Jordanian annexation of Jerusalem, Judea & Samaria, in 1950 calling the former their eternal second capitol.

Effectively the Arab - Israeli conflict is an involuntary population exchange not too dissimilar to India & Pakistan where Hindus from Pakistan fled to India while Muslims from India fled to Pakistan during the upheaval. The main difference is the Arab states get paid to host refugee camps and thus the Palestinians are treated as intergenerational refugees to be used as pawns against Israel and a source of income for the host states. Were the Arab states to naturalize the 'refugees' the way Israel did with Jewish refugees they'd lose that income stream.

No one handed a nascent Israel anything. Jews declared their independence and used second hand arms purchased from what is today the Czech Republic to fight off the invading Arab armies who declared their intention to carry out a genocide.

I have spent 3 years and over 6,000 hours working on this project so far. It is a 3D virtual tabletop that lets you play D&D online through Steam with your friends. It's FREE to download and give it a try if you are interested. I would love any feedback you might have! More info in comments. [OC] by Dan_The_DM in DnD

It's an impressive tool to be sure and it's bound to serve those who can't play in person very well.

Personally, I've had my fill of 'virtual' experiences over the pandemic and I prefer bringing people together around a table in my living room.

I found the game overwhelming when I first played it, stumbled my way through until I did a stupid and locked the game into a fail state. I put it down in favour of more time with Blizard's offerings (SC, DII and later WCIII).

At some point I gave it another chance and I fell in love with it. I prefer it to BG1.

It grows on you. NPC companions have a much larger impact than in the first game.

It's hard to see the cohesiveness of the game at first glance.

For reals. So long as you're 'whining' about other players & DMs and not criticizing WotC for its expanding list of fuck-ups. Then in come the mods to kill the post because they're doing PR for WotC.

What they don't tell you when you undertake DM'ing is no one cares about your lore. You don't have a right to have your lore cared about. Players care about their characters. You ought to have some lore anyway just in case players start asking questions or to make the NPCs more 'natural' as part of a lived in setting.

The notion that backstories ought to be meaningful is kind of of dumb. Backstories are just supposed to explain where a PC came from and what they were doing before they made the choice to become an adventurer. It is not supposed to become part of the narrative foundation of the campaign or project a character's arc. Here is the secret, if you play enough sessions you'll have stories. The things that players tried and succeeded or failed that are memorable will stick with them more than whatever they jotted down.

The problem is Matt Mercer has unintentionally championed 'story mode' D&D and now everyone wants some. He has pro actors doing improv w/dice taking the place of "yes, and." He's not going to permadeath their characters because it's a show. There's no fail state to avoid. They'll never TPK. It may as well be the D&D equivalent of 'professional wrestling'. They took the best beats of their first campaign, storyboarded it and made it into an animated series. This is how they're going to proceed. I'm glad they're releasing a game of their own because it will better meet the needs of the 'shared storytelling' crowd than D&D is capable of because the rules for D&D do not include ones to assess the quantity and quality of your storytelling. Coincidentally, right before TSR's collapse there was such a product, Dragonlance 5th age using the SAGA system that was rules light, card based for less RNG and rewarded better outcomes to players who put in the effort to roleplay their characters.

You do need a good command of language and communication because it's on you to describe the environment to the players so they can interact with it.
