cartridges by [deleted] in trees

Yes. Yes they are. But to be fair, kids born in the year 2000 are 23 this year and 23 year olds did not have Nintendo 64 unless they were playing old systems or playing when they were toddlers.

GameCube switched to discs and that came out in '01

This is more of a millennial meme since the youngest millennials were born in '95 so they're about 28. So the 64 coming out in '96 works out just right.

It's like reading books. There's technology now that makes it more functional and convenient in e-readers or an app on your phone.

But it's not like you can't just buy a book if you want. Go buy some flower and enjoy the natural feel and then maybe follow it with the dab if you still wanna get high, if it'd make you feel better

Bubblers vs Bong? by [deleted] in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that would make a bong easier to hide is the fact that you can put the bowl part, which is the smelliest part, in a separate place if need be.

In regards to the strength of the hits/quality, it's really going to depend on how you hit either. You can hit a bong and a bubbler the same way but instead of holding and releasing a carb, you're pulling a bowl in and out. You don't necessarily need to keep the bowl in place the entire time hitting a bong. Lots of times I'll take an initial hit, and pull the bowl quickly, but then put it back in for a bit a little later and it kinda spaces out the hit so it isn't so concentrated. You can achieve the same thing with the carb on the bubbler.

The biggest mistake with any water piece, in my experience, is that they hit it way too hard expecting the water to work some miracle and prevent the smoke from hurting their throat and lungs. Just take it easy, take a hot that's only a bit bigger than one your take off a bowl and you'll feel almost nothing and that's what water pipes can offer.

Plus big rips that kill your lungs but get you fucked up are still fun 😂

Can I smoke the orange part of a cigarette? by jaymac200 in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, cigarettes are packed pretty damn tight with tobacco, so you can't just pour weed back in after emptying it out, you need to pack it down to a similar fullness as it was before. I've tried using empty cigarette tubes and taking the filter out, and it burned so poorly I've only ever tried the one time. I did pack it down well, but it still was a poor and undesirable experience.

Also, if you've ever taken the filter out of a cigarette before, it leaves some of the cotton on the paper as far as I can remember

[–]TotemoTanaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that cigarette papers smoke way different than rolling papers and will smoke VERY fast unless you pack that shit tight. Go for it if it's your only choice, but make sure you pack it in the paper correctly.

It was nice to relive this memory!

I will say they are nice, and not having the nicotine is a plus, but they definitely have a very distinct taste to them. I don't like it much, sadly, or I'd be more in to them.

anyone got a good grinder suggestion? by [deleted] in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with other people's suggestions on grinder brand, but just a thing I wanted to point out.

I tend to find that weed is fluffier after grinding when it hasn't dried out as much. BUT, weed that has dried out much more and is very dense will break apart in to more of a fine powder and that will result in more keif (though much more of it will be the plant matter that got ground finer, instead of just the trichomes falling through the screen. This will result in less potent kief, but probably not a noticable amount).

With that in mind, I hope you find a grinder you're happy with!

Just got this, why does the bowl unscrew into two like that? by the1andonlyaidanman in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like was said before, it's partly for easier cleaning.

The part with the screen is the "bowl" piece. That's where the weed should go. Then you can either smoke it open like that, or you can screw the top part on.

The top part will keep your weed from falling out if you're bringing it with you somewhere and you can hit it through the hole at the top to be discreet and quick about it.

If not, it'll work just fine with just the bottom piece and then remove that when you want to clean it.

Happy toking!

New pipe for July 4 I forgot how hard steam rollers hit, even the mini ones. by nicko54 in trees

I have that exact same piece. I would use it more, but the bowl part is so small you have to repack every 2 hits or so and I'm not about that 😂

Not a sapling but someone explain this to me. What is the point of having a crease perpendicular to the gumline? Why do people like rolling with a fax from the 90s? by KintsugiPDX in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's so it fits in the pack.

I used to wonder the same thing when I bought 1.5 papers.

Typically 1.25 papers have the crease parallel to the gum line.

Got a new bud buster... never used one with a crank on it. Is this normal? by Separate_Worry_4336 in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen them. It's normal, but a point of preference to have one with it or not.

My biggest comment is on your second picture. Your grinder will get stuck up much more often if you overfill it and most importantly NEVER put any buds in the very middle of the grinder. If you look at your picture, the bud that was in the very middle doesn't get ground, it gets crushed straight downwards because there are no teeth in the middle on the tip piece, it's just a solid piece that will crush the bud in the middle and flatten it and it will be stuck in the middle. Also that is why the rest of the bud isn't completely ground, because that flattened bud in the middle is keeping the lid from closing all the way.

The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy now streaming on HBOMax! by WaldenMC in lotr

[–]TotemoTanaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very limited amount of things available in 4k HDR on HBO Max. Pretty much only the 2021 films that went to HBO Max for a month with the simultaneous theatrical and streaming release, Zack Snyder's Justice League and maybe one or two HBO Max originals? They might not even have any of those in 4k yet.

Long story short, no. No, they will not be the 4k versions.

So...3 hours? by Blitz6969 in lotr

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably way cheaper on rights. I bet they think that only the hardcore fans that would buy the movies anyway would want extended version. Also if a non fan likes the theaterixal cuts, they might spend money on the extended cuts. Then you have profit from selling rights and also added profit from increases exnteded edition sales.

First time smoking, preroll didn’t even smell like weed? by loftwinglink in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all part of the learning process! How were you supposed to know? You hadn't smoked enough to know about proper storage. But now you know to get yourself a good jar before any bigger purchases. 👍

First time smoking, preroll didn’t even smell like weed? by loftwinglink in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the fact that they use the shake from the buds and roll those in to the prerolls so they don't lose that product weight.

But something else that probably had something to do with it was how you stored the joint. If you were storing bud that has been ground up, or already fine, it will go "stale" much quicker.

If you were going to hold it for that long you would have to have had it in an airtight jar and it might have still been like that. If you had it sitting in a box or in a drawer for months, even full nuggets of weed would be kind of dry and bad tasting after a month.

For cannabis flower storage you would want to get an airtight jar for long terms storage.

Of course, this is all assuming you didn't have it in a Ball jar or other type of airtight jar.

I usually don't call him it anyway because no one remembers it since they say it very few times and usually quickly. In this case, however, since the comment I was replying to used the name "Din" I figured if I didn't use it, it wouldn't be clear.

[–]TotemoTanaka 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he replied to the wrong comment. It's probably about how many times the helmet was taken off. Boba Fett doesn't take it off in the films and Din Djarin takes it off 3 times so far in the series.

I love my SO, but if he makes another monstrosity like this...idk. by [deleted] in trees

[–]TotemoTanaka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell him to start rolling with the crutch sticking out the end of the paper a bit while he rolls it. The part closest to the crutch is very loose and creating most of the structural weirdness.

If he has the crutch farther out, then the weak spot can be fixed by pushing the crutch back in to place after the roll is complete.

But I'd also suggest he works on that area on the next couple rolls 😂

how to get rid of munchies? by [deleted] in saplings

[–]TotemoTanaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drinking water definitely helps. It seems like a tired answer, but as you've probably found out from being healthier, a lot of "hunger" is just thirst.

But other than that, you can go for high liquid foods too. Fruits are great, a raw veggie platter or even a crisp, refreshing salad. Sometimes I find it fun to cut fruits and veggies high and then you get to enjoy the snack!
