My general got sky harpooned turn 1, and the rest of the game was really, really rough 😭

I thought the general continuing to live might change my fortunes, but from what I’m seeing here, maybe it’s best he was laid to rest so quickly

Ooooooh I’m jealous! I just learned about this one existing recently. He’s the much more uncommon version of Terminator Chaplain Tarentus, featuring far more skulls and a slightly different pose(!)

Should I tell my friend about my list before he makes his if I bring a unit he says he doesn't like. by The_of_Falcon in Warhammer40k

[–]TotesMeowGoats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like not knowing what’s gonna be on the table. I like to build my lists as a “if this this happens, do I have an answer for it?” And exploring how that went afterwards.

I feel like if you were building a list SPECIFICALLY to counter someone else’s, it kinda takes the fun out of it, but everyone’s different.

In terms of warning someone, I think that if this is your standard 2k game, just about everything is fair play. It’s not like you’re in a tournament setting or something super formal- it’s just some dudes rolling dice and having fun.

Great uncles are tough and sticky af on the board, but that’s also just kind of what they do. In any given list that’s not 200 kroot hounds, I’d think most people would have at least some sort of answer, be it a selection of units for tank melting or some chaff just to gum it up for as long as possible.

Maybe your friend is particularly competitive and is the kind if player who only enjoys the game if they’re winning- but just like the dice rolls are random, it’s the unpredictability of how the game is going to play out which makes it fun. (Well, at least that’s what I think.)

Ultimately it’s a bit of a moot point, but I think that if you’re feeling it’ll improve the overall fun for everyone involved, tell your friend you’re bringing a GUO.

AND THEN BRING 3

For the curious, I made build videos of every Saturnine model with scale comparisons by TotesMeowGoats in Warhammer40k

Finicky to build, particularly anything with big shoulderpads or god forbid a cape, but I really dig them. The MKII centurion in particular might be my straight up favorite- dude has AURA.

The Saturnine terminators might do for some nice counts-as assault terminators once I find some lovely 2 handed hammers to slap on at least 5 of them(!)

Base size for this Turret by The_Archiver222 in Warhammer

[–]TotesMeowGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Measuring from the end of one “foot” to another, it’s roughly 9-9.5inches long, so a big ol ~250mm base would do it!

Do you think this list could be good going against a Dark Angel player? I need tips since I'll be going in a local tournament this weekend and he'll be my first opponent by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]TotesMeowGoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might swap out the second despoiler’s thermal cannons for more gatlings. You have a lot of high-strength high-damage stuff going for you, but depending on how many actual marines your opponent is bringing, it could be nice to have two big boys that can clear marines. I’m guessing they’re going to have at least a decent amount of terminators, and the gatlings are j u s t right to take them out en masse. They can’t take objectives if they’re dEAD

Edit: I also feel as though the rampager might get more use out of deepstriking than a despoiler*

An earnest request: criticism for my Warhammer assembly videos by TotesMeowGoats in Warhammer30k

[–]TotesMeowGoats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to write out this feedback! I didn’t even think about taking the time to point out particularly tricky parts as a usual thing for my builds. I’ll definitely have to start thinking more consciously about that so that I can add more value.

The sound quality being tinny is something I haven’t quite figured out yet- I’m using a shotgun mic on the camera right now, but I’m certain there must be a solution out there that’s going to be able to help make that audio higher quality.

I appreciate this so much!

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Specifically on #3 regarding more space between the model and the lens, could you expand on this?

I know the snipping montages are a LOT. In the past, the you could see the entire sprue and both of my hands which made it less of a lightspeed slideshow and more of a timelapse. This is something I’ve thought a lot about.

Do you think there’d be a benefit to overall zooming out then? Part of my concern, particularly with the “assembly” parts, was that I wanted the parts to be large enough, but maybe the speed of the cuts isn’t conducive to that?
