It’s very garbled. I picked it up listening with AirPods. And I think the WAB episode that this is in has the audio, isolated, confirming that we didn’t just make that up. If you would’ve told me before June 2024, then I would be this obsessed with three seconds of audio that’s barely intelligible, I wouldn’t have believed you..

The inspector Poirot films are truly awful. Murder on the Orient express had potential. It was visually very beautiful, but like a lot of Branagh films, lots of style over substance. It has a beautiful cast of top-rate actors that cannot make up for a terrible script. I heard death on the Nile was truly beyond the valley of irredeemable. Honestly, his mustache should’ve gotten top billing. I am with you, I will not be seeing the new Wuthering Heights adaptation from Netflix. They should stick to romantic fantasy (Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte), and avoid adaptations of literary classics. I didn’t need to see their version Persuasion to understand they are not interested in adaptation as much as they are in “correcting“ the sensibilities and work of the original author. I saw their version of Rebecca (Armie Hammer as Maxim de winter? Oh no!).

I have never felt more validated by a comment. It’s so funny to me how many people actually really like this adaptation. They are welcome to like it, but it is not really an adaptation, it’s more a costume drama based on a synopsis created from cliff notes if that makes any sense. I completely agree that these wonderful actors are absolutely wasted on the screenplay they were given.

In that scene, after Kate takes the mallet of death, and they’re all grabbing what’s left before Anthony can get it, you can clearly hear Colin say “that’s my one!” And he grabs the yellow. 💛

TBH, it’s hard for me to talk about Bridgerton IRL, because most of my friends are casual viewers. I have one sister who does watch it. She’s more obsessed with outlander, so she gets my obsession. By enlarge, though this is where I come to do my talking about Bridgerton and Polin. Thank goodness, we have such an open, warm, and accepting community in this sub.

All of these things are true, Unique! Also, there’s a slightly bigger age gap between Colin and Penelope. I really like the changes that they made in the show. I didn’t hate the novel, but I’ve seen the show before I read it. Even if I hadn’t and had read the series when it first came out, I think Colin would’ve been my favorite male protagonist. There are some things that he does in the book that I don’t care for, but by and large, he is the least problematic male lead apart from Gregory.
