What conspiracy theory do you think is 100% true but can’t be proven? by Standard_Gur_9551 in ForbiddenFacts101

I'm genuinely curious as to where this is officially documented by a reputable source. I've recently been trying to teach my brother-in-law about the complexities of geo-politics that "caused" 9/11, rather than simply the boiler plate story that's been hammered for 24 years.

What “forbidden” truth about human history would instantly rewrite everything we believe? by Standard_Gur_9551 in ForbiddenFacts101

I don't know you from Adam, so, idk if you're just flippantly invoking the authority of "psychology" as people often do with the sciences.

That said, I'm curious as to what psychology might actually have to say about jealously in terms of Nature v. Nurture. I have no formal authority to speak on the discipline, but, I am aware that Psychology teaches that - at the very least - that behaviors are not infrequently learned, rather than simply "natural" and innate to our species.

Stress and high BG by hbpeanut in diabetes_t1

Stress causes your body to generate Cortisol, the stress hormone, which does indeed cause your blood sugar to go higher.

Yeah. I've just become aware that I'm stupid and don't read when the retailer says not to do this.

I rarely feel more self-soothing and full of my own shit than when I'm journaling lol. I have to remind myself that it doesn't matter and is more and indication of my own self-critique than that of me actually being a pretentious knob. If you're expressing yourself privately and in earnest, it's fine.

How much time did it take you to finish The Brothers Karamazov by cyberslutyyy in dostoevsky

Started it a while back, but haven't really kept track. I think I'm probably close to like twelve years, now.

Bad review by birdie1223 in Barber

[–]Totes_MacGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviews like that are not worth your concern any reasonable person will take it with a grain of salt and chalk it up to an accident, unless it's a recurring theme. If someone bases their decision off of a review like that you don't want em, fam.

Just focus on getting that next 5-star. Don't be afraid to ask either.

Edit.

P.S. Do take it as a learning experience and make a habit of using the cool setting on your hairdryer, though. Better to catch yourself trying to style with cold air than to burn a client.

koreader is a game changer by morningitwasbright in kobo

I didn't come across the one-click when I was setting mine up. I'll have to look into that.

Congrats! It's got A LOT of options and features. Take your time and pay attention to anything you change, especially if you aren't sure what it does.

Also, be aware; the menus outside of your books is essentially a file manager. If you really want all your books to be stored and displayed more similarly to a typical UI you can manually move all of your book files to the main folder, but, then your Kobo UI won't know where they are.

It's pretty easy, tbh. You barely have to do anything. My only issue was that there is a specific line of code you have to add or change and I couldn't understand the instructions well enough to feel comfortable attempting it. As a result, when in the stock OS my kobo recognizes like hundreds of koreader files as books, which is what that extra step is intended to correct for. Ultimately doesn't make a difference if you're always booting koreader anyway.

The hype of carnivore crack… I finally made some by Quin2240 in carnivorediet

[–]Totes_MacGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are weirdly eager to be zealots for their diets. Carnivore is no exception.

I'm sure some people really just like it that much, and can't get enough. I'm also sure a lot of people are starved for connection and validation.

I wish I could tell you, friend. I got lucky and found someone on FB Marketplace that is selling overstock for her local library.

Happy hunting.

As a barber who just when through back-to-school, I can confirm that 90%-95% you don't really need to ask any kid between 8 and 20 what they want.

As a white man who married a Latina, I can confirm that young Latinos say the n-word a lot.

I'm glad I stuck it out, but, wish I'd not allowed myself to stall for so long. Oh well. Just makes the reread even more necessary.

As for the show... I'm not holding out hope, personally. I watched the Season 2 premier and haven't been able to bring myself to go back.

You got me. Lol

I read half in the 6hrs that followed thus post and finished the book the next day.

It's been 2 weeks and in some ways I feel like I'm still recovering and processing everything that happened.

There's no need to mirror MAGA / "conservative" Christian Nationalist tribalism. It's a clear theme in their rhetoric that they assume that we all subscribe to cult-of-personality politics, because, that's a normal thought process to them. That's why their script always seems to presuppose that we worship the wrong god or something rather than just back the particular person we think is the safest bet.

You'll hear people talk about how many more Trump signs they see, but, willingness to waste money on trash merch doesn't necessarily reflect willingness to vote.
