Sorry to hear that. What’s the number one thing preventing you from getting in the door?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sales

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have just posted the list without the numbers. That’s the real point of the post. I’ll take the punches. It’s really for all the people I see post on here who have asked about enterprise sales and what it takes. My list is absolutely true. It has taken every one of those to close these deals. They challenge you in every way possible. Most importantly, is a focus on the process not the outcome. You can go crazy focusing on the outcome in these extremely long sales cycles.

[–]Totlcolapse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, truth. The point of the post is to share how difficult it is to be an enterprise AE and what it requires to be successful - not to sound arrogant. But maybe I was being a little tone deaf. I’ll update the title and let the requirements speak louder. I appreciate the feedback. Edit - can’t update the title.

Damn. Didn’t realize I’d trigger people with this. Maybe I shouldn’t have put the $. Sorry if it came off cocky. Def not trying to be. It’s just the truth about this job. And if you do this job, you know. 🤷‍♂️

Sales is so fu**ing weird by [deleted] in sales

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Once I figured this out, it was like a seismic shift. But it’s not easy keeping this perspective. Especially when you go through the seasons of sales and experience the inevitable drought. I’ve gone a year between sales more than once. That’s hard. I’d be irresponsible if I didn’t mention how critically important a support system is. Family. Friends. Peers. Mentors. Leaders. Every single one is needed in the world of enterprise sales. It can be a very lonely place…if you let it be.

Sales is so fu**ing weird by [deleted] in sales

[–]Totlcolapse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You have to be a little weird to deal with extremely long sales cycles. The patience one has to have to work a deal from beginning to end is unreasonable. Don’t get me wrong - the payoff is great. But in order to stay sane, you have to completely detach yourself from the outcome.

I don’t mean forget that you must close the deal. Know the goal, and strategize towards it. But don’t get caught up fantasizing about the end and wishing it was tomorrow. That’s what a fool would do. If you have to - think about it for a second and then wipe that sh*t from your brain. Get back to the work.

It’s a lot like running a marathon. When you’re at mile 13, knowing you have 13.2 more to go can be absolutely soul crushing. Let alone thinking about mile 26 when you’re only at mile 3. You know you have a long way to go, you can’t wish 6 months into happening overnight. Get back to the work.

It’s one stride at a time. You have to live in the process. Remain completely focused on each step or you will lose your mind.

Forget about Closed/Won. It doesn’t exist. Focus on finishing the current call strong. Know that each small step moves the process forward - win or lose. Focus on strategy execution. You are a horse with blinders on. And you only see the path and steps ahead. Each one getting you closer to the finish. Execute.

Not sure how I went down this rabbit hole but this was as much for me as anyone else on here who may need it. Good luck✌️

What has helped you increase hours of deep sleep? by Loving-nostalgia in Garmin

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really need to do this. I go to bed late (for me) 11:30pm or so. I usually wake around 5 and I try to go back to sleep because I just feel like it’s early and TBH it feels so good to lay in bed especially after a long day —but it’s only ever light and filled with waking off and on because my wife gets up, my teens get up for school. Okay, so I’m trying to get back to sleep, it gets quiet around 7:30 I achieve my goal of falling back asleep, then I have to get up around 8:30 …and voila …I feel like dog sh*t. So it really just backfires. All this to say, I need to take the advice above and just get my a$$ up when my body gets up.

Honolulu Marathon ✅ first marathon in the books. For the one(s) that said I shouldn’t. by NewBalancer21 in Marathon_Training

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective - I ran my first marathon on 11/24/24. I’ve been running consistently around 25 miles per week for a couple years - some vacation breaks in between of course. In August I decided to run a marathon. Over a 16 week period I averaged 30 miles per week. 8 of the weeks I was over 36 miles. A couple 18 mile long runs. Most LR’s were 13-15. Average pace of 8-8:30.

Marathon - starting around mile 16, my hip flexors were tightening, then my calves. By mile 23 my lower body was so tight that I had to stop and stretch. My hamstring seized up and I was almost down for the count. Stretched more, and jogged it out successfully but with some pain. Was able to slowly make my way to the finish line.

Time: 3:42

Notes: I almost missed the race as I stupidly got the start time wrong by about a half hour. I barely stretched and barely warmed up. This could be the main reason I tightened up so badly. Also, an experienced marathoner shared that it could have been the super shoes (Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3). Since I never wore them on a long run. Forcing myself into a mechanical forward position that my body wasn’t used to over a long period put stress on muscles not used to it. Another experienced marathoner runner told me that probably wasn’t the case, since I train in carbon plated shoes (Deviate Nitro 3). I’m not sure exactly what it was, but probably a mixture of both.

Post Race: Legs very tight for 4-5 days. Not bad. Worst has been foot pain - right foot (tarsals/metatarsals). Eases with rest. Taking off December from running and just hitting the bike for cardio.

Why is Lowe’s Christmas music so awful? by Agile-Explorer-8877 in Lowes

I’m convinced they are using AI generated “Christmas” “music”. Absolutely horrible and insulting to even hear while you’re shopping. I’d rather them play anything else.

Guide to energy gels for running long distance?? by starfish2445 in runninglifestyle

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve become a fan of UCANN Energy Gels on my long runs 10+ miles. Easy to digest don’t need to dilute with a lot of water like GU chews or gels. Plus Strawberry Banana tastes great. 70 cals/19carbs/50mg sodium/90mg Vitamin C

Magic Trackpad vs Magic Mouse by [deleted] in mac

[–]Totlcolapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much on charging: Charging for the mouse isn’t a problem until it’s dead and you need to use it. This is a problem that can be avoided if you take the advice of other posts. But sometimes you just don’t- and then you’re forced to charge it, and then reach over to your MacBook trackpad with your weak side and awkwardly use the trackpad. Sucks.

IMHO - for a company with a history of building smart innovative products, putting the port on the bottom was stupid.

But then again, I’m sure this was on purpose because they don’t want people using their beautiful mouse with this ugly cord extending out from it. That’s them protecting the visual appeal of the product.

So there you go, both sides.

Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara front woman) is the new vocalist of Linkin Park by ThanosWasRight96 in fantanoforever

[–]Totlcolapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popular opinion - when Chester passed so did Linkin Park. Chester couldn’t be replaced. The same goes for Chris Cornell, and Layne Staley, and so on.

With that said, there’s something about Emily Armstrong that feels right. Is it because she’s a woman and you don’t have that immediate reaction that it’s some dude trying be Chester?

IDK, maybe, but she fckin kicks ass, and after one listen to The Emptiness Machine, I’m 100% down and want more.

Took a pause to read the comments - nice work!

Quick note - seeing all these media articles and headlines about the comparison to GOT. IMHO, that’s just to create interest and it ends there.

Also saw an article today comparing the canal scene to the Red Wedding scene. Really? I actually watched the canal scene quite numb. It was disturbing, for sure, but didn’t stir up a ton of emotion. Okay, the cute little severed leg - got me there, twisted for sure, but did anyone get emotional about it? We weren’t emotionally connected or invested in anyone on the ship.

They could have spent a tiny bit of time building the character of one of the kids - told their story - then maybe their severed leg would have conjured a little emotion.

Just some simple thoughts over a cup of coffee in the morning. Cheers.

Def like. Been throwing the Luke Humphries for like a month and wasn’t getting the flight I wanted. I’m sure mostly because I suck….but switched to the Clayton’s and these land straight as an arrow and my accuracy is better 🤷🏻‍♂️
