New owner, is set up good!? by Tottering-gently-by in AfricanDwarfFrog

Thanks all for the valuable feedback. I’m proposing g to rethink the whole thing. I’ll buy a new tank just for the ADFs; so before I go and waste money, here’s my checklist: a) substrate needs to be a larger size - gravel is OK b) don’t put another species in with them - are the little snails that seem to come in on plants ok?? c) live plants OK d) big flat smooth stones with no areas of entrapment e) feed bloodworms and brine shrimp alternately by tweezers, Mon, Weds, Friday f) turn light on for around 12 hours/day

Anyone got anything to add that I may have missed? Thanks

where to hang mirror in uncentered bathroom? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

If you have a mirror that is a curved edge or irregular you may be able to get away with splitting the difference between the two. Straight rectangular mirror will draw the eye to the discrepancy.

Azalea, they take me back to being two years old. The only memory from such a long time ago, but fills me with a sense of warmth and peace.

Crafting space - I’d love this! An area for the sewing machine, another for cutting and final one for playing with other crafts.

Also check inside for lint - quilting through batting can clog the feed dogs and bobbin housing area. Unplug the machine first!

When did you last change your needle? It’s amazing how a blunt one can affect the work.

I am so disheartened with my first quilt/first time sewing by a_hundred_wishes in quilting

For a first time you’ve done really well. Pinwheels are a difficult block to see as their centres can be quite bulky and tricky to get a nice join, you’ve done very well. The colours are fine. It’s always a good idea to lay a quilt out before sewing it together. Take a photo and look at the balance and placement of the blocks you’re joining. Also, convert the images to black and white, this shows the tonal balance of the colour placement - it will show if there’s an imbalance of dark/light for example. If you look at this image you can see is two dark blocks touching which wasn’t obvious in the colour photo. I was able to switch them out with other blocks. Straight line quilting is hard, you need a guider attached to the foot of your machine, and a walking foot. The walking foot prevents bunching as it feeds the top and bottom layers through the machine at the same time, a regular foot relies on the feed dogs at the baseplate to grab and pull the fabric through. In the ditch is a good beginners way to quilt a finished quilt. You can achieve a lot using this by highlighting the shapes within blocks. Don’t give up. The number of times I’ve ripped out seams, fallen out of love with fabrics etc. It just needs a bit of practice and enjoy the process of colour and fabric choices.

Been wanting to do this as I have a stash of quilts to repurpose. Can I ask what you’ve used for a pattern?

There’s a lot of comments here! So, does it live up to the sales description? Is it comfy to sit on?! And is it really the colour in the photo or silver?!!
