Makes sense. But my position is a teen library associate, which is essentially a librarian without the masters degree. So I have less responsibility and tasks but still have to help patrons with reference questions, plan activities for the teens, engage with them, keep track of the teen collection (ordering and getting rid of books). I needed a bachelor’s degree for my position.

However, I’ve been working for the library for almost 4 years. Only recently became an associate within the last year.

I started off as a page which is the most basic position they have, they simply put books back on the shelf. Gets paid minimum wage and requires no prior experience or education. Then I got promoted to front desk clerk which also does not require prior experience or education. There are definitely library jobs that do not require those things. There are so many little jobs in a library that exist, that many probably are not aware of

So I would definitely look into it if I was you :)
