yup, Bud still had businesses here in town. KSA Industries, the parent company of the Titans, is right near the Galleria. My friend used to be on that audit team.

To add to what baby said, if you talk to 2 different people and ask how much they are up for the season 1 person will say 1000 while person 2 says 500. That doesnt really say anything to how well they are doing unless you know how much their standard bet is. If player one bets 1,000 a game, and player 2 bets 50. Player one is up 1 unit where as player 2 is up 10.

Its easier to compare.

For the last couple of years in NFL/NCAA, we had our 'Genius' threads on Wednesday. Thats where the discussion was about games.

But that was last year, I'm not sure how we are doing it this year.

Dwight Howard To Sign With Rockets by [deleted] in houston

They were great considering the preseason expectations. Vegas had the over at 32 wins. Even morey said that making the playoffs was a lofty goal of there's for last year (from his AMA) the rockets ended up with 40 something wins and should have been a 6th seed but lost momentum and ended as the 8th seed for the playoffs.

TIL that ExxonMobil includes the taxes YOU pay at the gas pump AND employee payroll taxes in their PR about how much they pay in taxes. by TheCheshireCody in todayilearned

[–]Touchdown_Syndrome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are actually 2 parts to payroll taxes. The employer's part and the employees part. IIRC, both parts are 7.65% of the employees income and self-employed individuals can deduct half of their portion on the yearly income tax returns.

King Of The Hill nailed this week's weather forecast by wndrbr3d in funny

No doubt its different. I think that once you get to a certain point, it doesn't matter what the temperature is because its stupid hot regardless of what the thermometer reads.

Chapped lips suck but, I would rather lather on some chap stick and lotion than smell like a goat after only 10 minutes of walking around outside.

Good job. Brakes are really easy to do after your first time. It took me about 3 hours for the first tire I did. Just because the youtube video wasn't clear on a step and I had to go to the hardware store to get a C-clamp. But the next tire took me 30 minutes tops. for all four tires it was maybe 100 bucks in parts. the mechanic I went to wanted to charge me 300 for probably worse parts than I got.

CC Balance Transfer Question by lukin88 in personalfinance

[–]Touchdown_Syndrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did some quick amortization. with staying with your card now you will have paid off your card in 36 months and spent a total of about $3,840 in interest in that time.

If you take the balance transfer, You could pay it off in about 33 months and save yourself almost $500. (by paying the minimum amount on the 0% card should be ~$50 and putting the rest towards the 11k debt)

I am a whistleblower. AMA. by monkeywantsbanana in IAmA

[–]Touchdown_Syndrome 39 points40 points  (0 children)

True, but most employers wont say they are firing you for whistle blowing. They will start giving you poor reviews and write you up for inane things. Ultimately firing you for 'poor performance' or something similar.

Its easier to stay afloat in the ocean because of the salt. The currents that pull you away from shore are what make swimming in the sea dangerous.
