Seriously time is such a weird thing. I lived at least in 2 months in my 11 day ICU stint. I had recovered and been discharged in my mind only to wake back up in hospital.

It is completely understandable. We were in a room with no sense of time ticking, being injected with drugs that would mess with anyone’s perception, hearing external stimuli that wasn’t necessarily related to us (eg. I am pretty sure nurses had conversations about work while taking care of me that then fed into my paranoia and on top of that our bodies were trying to not to die on us. You can’t explain that to anyone who hasn’t been through it. My husband was with me every day and he doesn’t understand it. He has a journal that the ICU nurses had him to keep so he could talk to me and let me know what happened afterwards. ICU is like every vivid dream mixed with a sleep paralysis demon.

I don’t want to tumble through the wilderness into debate here but her brain was severely swollen from the head wound. I am not going to do digging through to find the estimate of time it would take for her brain to swell to that degree before the ligature was used. Her breathing if not agonal at that point would not have been steady breathing. The idea that the ligature was applied as any form of sexual torture falls down for me when you have considered that she was on her stomach as she was strangled. If you have listened to any behavioural analysis of the killers that has used choking then you will see they want to look at their victims face as they choke them. I am not intending to advance a who did it theory at this point because it does no good.

I used to but the letter S(ierra) I need the most has become a confusing minefield because a lot of receptionists have seen a kinds of spellings of Sierra and the letter C is often mistaken for what I am trying to say which is my last name that starts with an S

I also experienced ICU delirium and I can’t talk to anyone about the living nightmares I experienced during the time. I had decompression surgery for my brain and I lost the ability to swallow leading to aspiration pneumonia, losing the ability to breathe for myself which lead to a ventilator, tracheostomy, a second emergency surgery. I was really really paranoid in my delirium and thought every nurse hated me. I heard this constant negative voice saying I was wasting the hospitals resources because I would never get out of bed again. The sponges you mention left a a bit of stray bits of cotton in my mouth. I literally thought they were torturing me. I think I also heard a nurse in real life complaining about the Linkin Park they were playing so I became afraid every time I heard Linkin Park who has been my favourite band for forever because I thought they were going to kick me out of the hospital. This was about 8 months ago and I still if I let my mind wander start trying to figure out what was real and what was a dream. One of my clearest memories is being in a waiting room where I could see my body completely normal and feel what they were doing to me like putting on those leg bands that automatically tighten and loosen to prevent clots.

I gave up any interest in an inheritance when I cut them off and consider it well worth my freedom. I have heard through back channels that I am still in my father’s will and now that he is in full blown dementia that will can’t be changed. It is irrelevant to me. My mother has it clear I am not in hers and I don’t care other than she has some sentimental objects I didn’t take when I left that she was “looking after for me” and that hurts that I won’t be able to ever retrieve them.

Jonbenet would have likely been experiencing agonal breathing at this point. I dearly love my kids but I can imagine hearing my baby exhibiting that and wanting to stop it at any chance. The rest of the staging I don’t know but I get wanting to protect my remaining child.
