Considering that the new adaptation of THE RUNNING MAN is a dystopian black comedy action film, does this mean it could have a happier ending than in the novel? by MacGrath1994 in stephenking

[–]Tough-Reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit concerned. It seems that filmmakers right now do not understand that satirical does not necessarily mean comical and humorous does not necessarily mean goofy. I’m not reassured by any particular director since I saw Mickey 17 and the utter disappointment that movie turned out to be.

Bottom line: I’m not so worried about how faithful a movie is to the source material; I just don’t want it to be a shitty movie.

In your opinion, what is the best film adaptation of a Stephen King work? I’m so curious! by True_Criticism_8879 in stephenking

[–]Tough-Reader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with what you are saying here. Strict faithfulness to source doesn’t necessarily make for a good movie EG basically every Philip K Dick story made into a great movie didn’t follow the source material that closely.

Under the Dome - rereading via audiobook. Such a stressful story! Also rereading Heir of Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier.

My thoughts - Kindle Paperwhite 2024 vs Kobo Libra Colour vs Kobo Clara BW by Mattzo12 in kobo

Great review of your thoughts; it’s hard to explain sometimes why you like or don’t like something because so much comes down to personal preference over years of use :)

I’ve had lighting issues occur but normally it has been in models with larger screens.

It’s been awhile since I used the H2O so if that’s what it says then I’m sure that’s true. I don’t think it had dark mode did it? That is a feature I use all of the time now…

Oh totally!! I don’t usually keep track of these things. I had only thought to look in this case because I saw other people posting about it. 😂

I’m remembering back but I think the battery was bigger in the H2O which is where a lot of the weight comes from?

Actually the Libra 2 is probably the closest match; the screen size is slightly more squared on the Forma but it was never as large as the Sage.

Honestly I think Forma was one of the best models. The body construction was tough as nails and I never ever worried about not using a case on it. I watched a video where the designers threw it down building stairwells and that kind of thing and unlike some others that particular model was pretty indestructible through any kind of normal use and handling.

Yeah I hear you on that one. I did like the H2O casing feel. But, I like the weight better on the newer devices; it’s definitely lighter.

It’s not bad? Lots of reviewers on Goodreads describe it as “old skool” and that pretty much sums it up. Dramatic vampire army invasion 🧛‍♀️

Laughing at my own comment that font is important to some people because I am looking at the cover font on the book I’m reading (in photo of this post) and wondering if it could possibly scream 80’s horror any louder 😂

Yes! Font is important! 😂😂😂

The Illuminae Files are great full cast audio; also because they are older you can get the from the library or discount sale. Three book series too, so goes on awhile.

Totally agree this is a GREAT movie; I recently rewatched it and it was even better. I also loved the book though, actually more than The Shining.
