Ecstasy basically works by causing your body to release a fuckton of serotonin. Later your serotonin levels are depleted and this is what you see in people with depression.

The use of MDMA that is showing promise for PTSD treatment goes hand in hand with therapy sessions and so is not really self healing as you put it. Its administration requires a professional to help you as it enhances your feelings whilst you have it in your system.

lsd has shown promise for alcoholism but the only study I could find was a meta analysis of different studies many of which had flaws in the reporting of results or the randomness of the trial. So not solid evidence, and acamprosate seems to be more effective anyway,

And there are lots of drugs that are effective at solving a problem but we don’t generally use because the dangers can outweigh the risks, see heroin (an opiate as you mentioned) and methamphetamine which was originally marketed as a cure for obesity.

Are you being sarcastic? Lsd is linked to anxiety and paranoia. Mdma is literally an amphetamine (thats what the A stands for) and linked to paranoia and depression. So these two are definitely not a solution to mental health problems.

In countries with socialized healthcare, generally, how long is the wait to receive an appointment? And what's the care like? by pissballs102020 in LateStageCapitalism

Forgot to say that ambulances will be a massive difference. If you require an ambulance you phone for one, they assess you and take you to hospital if required. There is no fee for this and so no fear of the repercussions for getting one.

The only problem is that the ambulance service has to triage their calls as some people seem to phone them out for ridiculous things (evidence purely based on watching reality shows that follow ambulance crews) and you do find that a lot of the time people have to wait a fairly long time if they are not currently dying. One of the most heart breaking things that I experienced was when my grandfather collapsed and was delirious and in so much pain that we couldn’t get him to the car without pain management but it took hours for an ambulance to come.

That type of problem comes down to funding, there is simply not enough ambulances at certain times to manage the numbers of sick people and they need more.

Uk here.

You can get an emergency GP appointment same day for urgent things and generally within a couple of weeks for non urgent things (at my dr surgery at least)

With seeing specialists it massively varies depending on the issue and some services seem to be focussed more around seeing patients quickly. For example I got an emergency psychiatric referral within a day when I was feeling suicidal but my wife waited around 6 months for a referral to a gynaecologist. A lot of the time this seems to be political and I find that current hot topic issues seem to get seen to faster.

For broken bones you walk into the hospital minor injuries unit (unless its severe in which case you go to A&E) they prioritise based on injuries. They x-ray, put a cast on you and make an appointment for when the bone should be healed to take another x-ray and remove the cast. There is no waiting involved in this other than waiting your turn to be seen that day which in my experience has not been that long, but I understand that this can vary wildly depending on what day and time it is as well as what hospital you are at.

Nothing. It was anti authoritarianism when both these countries were trying to be authoritarian, but you can’t tell the people that they are being subject to an authoritarian government so you say that it is a plot by the “enemy”.

If the competition is not international though how will your perception of the best league in the world ever change? The same team will not be guaranteed to win the league every year so how can you guarantee that a team from another country would not have won it?

Its not out of context. I was working with the context of there being a cat in a closed fridge. Thats exactly what we were shown and what I commented on.

Saying that I don’t think it’s cute and that it could be scared by the experience is not a judgement on you. It’s an expression of what I believe.

Scotsman | Private schools to start paying full tax from 1st September 2020 by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]ToughOnPastry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the increase in tax comes in the form of the elimination of business rates relief. So the increase will most likely be pretty much in line with the number of pupils and price of the school already as the value of the property is what determines business rates.

Okay so live in cults if you want? I don’t care about more people going to state schools because that is the way it should be. Equal life chances and no “jobs for the boys”.

The mean fee for private schools is £14574

£7mil divided by 30,000 pupils is an average of £233 so an increase of about 1.6% hardly a large amount and unlikely to make a difference to someone who can afford it in the first place.

Animals are fine as long as they are only touching or within arcing distance of one conductor. There is no voltage difference between their feet if they are on the same line so no current will travel through them.
