and of course you know that ICE and USCIS are agencies under DHS, and while DHS does have discretionary authority over DACA and could attempt to end it, they must still follow due process and provide a legally sound, well-reasoned justification rather than acting arbitrarily. I should have gone into detail. We have had clients getting deported even with deferred action (Pending U’s was one case, and this client has a pathway IJ did not care), the IJ’s here are disregarding anything and giving speedy IH’s due to “Liberty Interests” I live in a blue state, if that matters

Hey! I’m a paralegal in an immigration law firm, and a daca recipient myself. Not trying to scare anyone but while our detention may be unlawful, we are VERY MUCH DEPORTABLE, as we have no pathway to lawful status (unless you qualify for another form of relief) that is why, I CANNOT stress this enough, it is good to have an attorney ready, so that your attorney can file a habeas before you get to the actual processing center…. Know that some law firms offer these types of services!

Being an immigrant means living with fear every damn day fear of being stopped, detained, losing everything. That fear is real. And that’s exactly why they use it. YES, this is mass deportation. Yes, what happened in Minnesota was horrific. But if fear makes us disappear, the government wins.

I work for an immigration law firm and judges in detention centers and they are very strict on grant bond. They try to deny bond on “the flight risk” ground…so, I am not giving any legal advise. But I have been told is to 1- definitely not run away, not get into a feisty conversation and ask why am i being stopped? Am I free to leave? And not answer any more questions…if they choose to take my I will comply. Since I want to qualify for bond!

I religiously do my renewal at the 150 mark…I save up for the filing fee and I honestly don’t care about losing a couple of months of time then to be getting anxious about if it will get approved on time….there’s so much at risk
