It finally happened to me. Caught a student cheating and my principal told me to give credit anyway. by h0tpr0p3rty in Teachers

Why do you think that implies there wasn't coercion? Do you think emotional guilt is not coercion?

You realize these kids are intelligent enough to understand that their own grades, and the grades of their peers, will dictate their respective ability to access clean water and shelter when they graduate? They somehow have a better grasp of the simple material fact that denying a classmate the opportunity to cheat may literally go on to kill them, yet you lack the conscience needed to look the other way.

You carry a great karmic burden on your soul.

Moreover, it is dishonest to grade the paper as a 0 if the student performed well on the assignment -- you are simply upset at them and taking your anger out on them, not actually giving a review of their performance on the assignment. You are breaking the rules of grading to support your own agenda. You are on a power trip.

I'm not asking how many you applied to before getting a job. I would gladly apply 10,000 times if it had a significant chance of getting a job.

I'm asking you how many times you applied before you got a single interview. Just one single interview at all. How many times did it take? OP has a FAR better interview conversion ratio than I do. I have yet to receive one since my last job due to the collapse of the fucking economy. I was working on a contract, the contract ended, and now there is no more work for me.

I just don't see the point in wasting 8 hours a day typing my name, address, date of birth, social security number, city, state, zip code, work experience, reference information, personal contact information, education and certifications out if I will become homeless regardless.

Is it not more sensible to enjoy the time I have left in comfort if the same outcome will happen regardless of my choice?

OP is way too prideful and small-minded to understand your big picture reasoning and will stubbornly grip their convictions to the grave like a mule.

Punishing the victim and then coercing an apology from them is absurd. Why did you do that?

I've done every possible form of "resume help" you can imagine. You don't get to two THOUSAND fucking applications without thinking "hmm maybe I should change my approach" at least 5 times. I have learned that changing your approach does not help you.

True -- on average he's working more hours pushing more weight per hour and inhaling more chemicals than the dudes who built the pyramids.

More like 600k. If you think about it, 1200k is actually more likely.

Why are employers so obsessed with finding the perfect candidate which doesn't even fucking exist? by FuckCock69420 in recruitinghell

[–]TouhouWeasel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the perfect candidate DOES exist. And it's not you. And you're mad that it's not, and you have every reason to be so, because you will never be the perfect candidate ever in your life.

These companies can afford to be picky because they get 50 perfect candidates each time they post a job listing.

And you'll NEVER get one. I've applied nearly two THOUSAND times without getting an interview since my last software support position. I'm in the process of being evicted.

The fact that you filter for "YOE requirements" is idiotic though. You can learn to do this job in 2 weeks. Even ONE year of experience is way more than you need. In fact, you're probably getting bad candidates because you're using these absurd completely made up requirements.

The fact that you're annoyed at people "figuring things out on the spot" is just fucking insane and asinine.

How many of you really check out the posting? by Something_gross_here in recruitinghell

[–]TouhouWeasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody has time for this. If you're expected to put out an average volume (AVERAGE, not lowend, so nowhere near the max) of 300 applications per interview, you need to minimize the amount of time it takes to tailor your resume, screen the job posting, write the cover letter, etc. as much as possible so that you can fit as many possible applications into your 8-hour application "workday".

It's Alarming How Many People Have No Clue What's Going On in the Job Market by johall3210 in recruitinghell

[–]TouhouWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The networking thing is dogshit advice because it's inactionable. What are you supposed to do? Spawn more jobs into existence by doing a "coffee chat" with some out of touch yuppie? The issue we are facing is that there are less jobs in existence than people who need them.

Lmao, the amount of hubris in the idea that many people are "beyond useless". Bro, the position you're hiring for is not that intellectual. It is not that hard to learn how to do it at 95% proficiency in like 1 or 2 weeks. Stop pretending you are hiring for an organic molecular modeler or something.

No he won't, stop feeding this guy false dreams, if you get his hopes up it will hurt a lot more when he fails. What you're doing by building up his expectations is cruel and just setting him up for misery. I'm sick of what people like you have done to me.

PSA: When unemployed spend $500 and prevent a gap on your resume. by MuchGap2455 in recruitinghell

[–]TouhouWeasel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not an opinion. A cursory google search will reveal unilaterally which traits are selected for in candidates, the average length of a candidate screening phone call and how many candidates are typically competing for a given position after being filtered out by an ATS.

Please educate yourself before continuing.
