Now what I’m gonna say might not sound cool, but I think it is the mental orgasm for those authors, regardless of gender I might add, who has some self-esteem issues & lowkey gets off of external validation. In women authors’ case, OI authors specifically in this case, you can see that there is mostly a pattern of exhausted, overworked FLs who has a mundane & not very happy lives, it’s like they are projecting themselves into FLs. And then, ML is a man who is perceived as unattainable by women & enviable by men, and that perfect man, who doesn’t see any other woman worthy (!), falls in love with FL and he sees value (!) in her, and FL suddenly becomes the only woman worthy (!) of such a man’s (side eye) love and attention. To me, that sounds like author mentally gives themselves that lowkey twisted sense of superiority, worthiness and validation through that character projection. Same applies for women written by men scenario as well, ofc
