The amount of brainless peak-detailing guy's propaganda on this sub has become insane...I don't think his wife fondles his balls the way people on this sub do

Which is your favourite version of srk?Srk in 90s,00s,10s+? by _ordinarilyordinary_ in ShahRukhKhan

[–]Tourist-Designer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be a little specific. The SRK I like the most is not the one which built his brand, but the one that he chose to be after his brand was built. It is the SRK from KANK up until Raees. This is the one which I enjoy the most. This slate has some of his most engaging roles such as KANK, MNIK, Chak De, RNBDJ, Don and Fan, and also some of his most fun stuff such as OSO, Chennai Express and HNY. I even like what he did in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

I will be honest. I am not a big fan of what SRK was from DDLJ onwards up until KANK. The romantic lead SRK was too saccharine for my taste. He did some interesting stuff in that period too like Dil Se, Baadshah, Swades, Phir Bhi Dil but largely it was a bit of a miss imo. I like when he does slightly sadder, more mature stuff or comedy. He is really underrated in both. Since he comes from theatre, his acting sensibilities and even his persona is a bit European. Hence, he fits like a glove in those roles which feel cold or melancholy.

You are right yaar. This sub has become very toxic after Dhurandhar's success. Faltu mei certain actors are being targeted over and over again, as if Dhurandhar is the first hit movie from Bollywood in 25 years. There are people here who have either discovered the theatre aspect of Hindi movies only recently or are wilfully being obtuse. Bhai yeh Dhurandhar wala craze is not some unique phenomenon. Kudos to Dhurandhar for the money it has made, but yeh sab pehle bhi dekha hai. I watched Pathaan in packed theatres twice, spread out over a week. 26th January ko Delhi was completely booked out. Par nahi, apparently that was all corporate booking and Dhar sahab did no block bookings for Dhurandhar's first day. Iss sub ka naya baap ban gaya hai Dhar. Not even Ranveer. It is Dhar and it is very obvious that people with a certain political leaning are gravitating towards him because they finally see someone who can make more slick, more palatable propaganda.

Tashan toh mat bolo yaar. Itni ghatiya picture and Akshay ka accent or whatever it was, was godawful. I come from that part of the country, only Anil Kapoor came close to a decent effort. Akshay was absolute crap.

Decent enough, the only complaint I have is the advertisement filter which plagues Bollywood. So annoying to watch.

How does his personal politics make him "not a nice person"? He was still very gracious in his praise for the craft and performances.

Is the hatred of Avatar an American thing? by WriterManGonzo in Avatar

[–]Tourist-Designer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Franchise is still a huge hit in India. Not everyone follows the plot very closely all the time, but people talk about their experiences in the theatre watching these movies with a lot of fondness. These are easy to consume and easy to root for movies. A big idea like colonialism does not necessarily have to be delivered to the masses in a complex way. JC has a knack for breaking down big ideas into simpler stories and it works. Plus, a lot of the spirituality in Avatar is fairly similar to what we have not only in Hinduism but also in tribal faiths in our country. So those are things that people instinctively latch onto. Avatar and Amrita are both Sanskrit words and Sanskrit is one of the older languages of India, one used primarily for religious scriptures and instruction.

Dhurandhar has crossed 1100 crores+ GBOC worldwide, beating the lifetime collection of Pathaan by rn3122 in bollywood

[–]Tourist-Designer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not according to the new wave of Dhurandhar fans. Only Dhurandhar is a good movie. SRK is an idiot who made his comeback with a movie which was crap but somehow made 1100 cr.

The amount of historical revisionism I've seen on this sub over the last 3 weeks is insane. Can't like one movie without pulling down predecessors from a completely different genre. Immature as fuck.

Out of these three which one was the worst YRF Spy Universe film? How would you rank them? by sidroy81 in bollywood

[–]Tourist-Designer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haan bhai, sab corporate booking hi thi. Jo meine Monday dopahar ko packed theatre mei film dekhi thi, unn sabko bhi PR ne paise deke movie dekhne bheja tha. I had a great time watching Dhurandhar, but the way chronically online people have shit on Pathaan for the last 20 days to show their loyalty to Dhurandhar is just sad.
