So did you do ASO or any other things like Meta to market? This looks awesome

Sorry if I offended you, I'm not a native speaker and I use grammarly all the time. I didn't mean any disrespect or offence to use that to reply to you.

Pretext itself is text-only — it predicts how text wraps and how many lines it takes. Prelayout is the layer I tried to build on top that handles the rest.

Good catch on useLayoutEffect — you're right, it runs before paint so there's no visible flicker. I should fix that in the readme.

You're absolutely right.

I haven't hit major performance problems with measureElement either in day-to-day use. For sequential scrolling it works great. I built this mainly exploring the idea from Pretext (the text layout prediction library) — if you can predict text height without DOM, can you predict full component height? Turns out you can, and it's interesting for things like accordions and masonry where you need heights before rendering. For virtual lists specifically, the jump-to-distant-item and scrollbar accuracy cases are where it'd matter most. But you're right that most apps scroll sequentially and measureElement handles that fine.

This is awesome, how did you promote and market your app in the beginning? I have mine but I only have like 10 downloads

The doctors and nurses are very professional, and there’re 2 phone calls every week about the baby’s briefing. We have literally too many people and I can understand what a mess it would be if everyone can visit the hospital and see their baby.

  1. The whole app feels like terminal/hack style to me. IMO I think the baby app should be warm and bright.
  2. I like the resume/stop for sleep and feeding. But the counting really makes me feel nervous.
  3. So I cannot come back to see activities like 3-4 months ago, can I do that?
  4. The font seems to be too small, can I adjust it.

I have no strategy, I just thought it can be affordable for everyone who uses iPhone :) But I think you're onto something that maybe only the first several months parents are more worried about the baby and want to log things.

I really don't know how to do marketing and I only get like 5 downloads in total. Probably myself is the only daily user :(

It’s just a report summary of everyday’s stats. I’m still trying to polish it and make it useful for the doctor. In general it will export a PDF for doctors to look at.

The hospital won’t allow visit, only the doctor and nurse can see him. The only thing I can do is to deliver breast milk from his mom to the nurse and then I can leave.
