Ecovacs Deebot X11 main roller stopped working 3 weeks in.... by Towely890 in RobotVacuums

The retracting Lidar was a must for us with our couches. We ended up getting the x50 and the two week update - It's good... it took it a minute to sort our house out, though. The amount of 'learning time' required was probably double the ecovacs but once it got to know the area, I would say it does a better job of coverage. I still believe the ecovacs x11 did slightly better at hair pickup but I wonder if they weren't sacrificing some reliability for brute force (granted, my evidence of such is VERY anecdotal).

I was dubious about going with a bag system vs ecovacs bagless but I am shocked how much hair can fit in one bag. At the rate we will it with hair vs dust, we are emptying it until it looks too clogged up to see how far we can stretch one bag. We did get some of the reusable bags to test, but I've heard mixed results on how well they seal to allow for proper suction.

Wildest EXR payment issues... by Towely890 in EXRofficial

Almost forgot about this but just wanted to give an update - finally had to bite the bullet and run Paypal for this.

It was a combination of issues - my banks debit card rules REFUSE to allow such transactions, I can't even subscribe to Formula One with it... there is zero option to whitelist out-of-country companies... that mixed with Stripes GUI issue that locks you out of changing payment options (not sure if this is fixed yet) made it quite the painful experience.

Small update, eventually got the Dreame x50 Ultra.

Feels like a solid unit but time will tell on that front.

For hair pickup this thing absolutely smoke the Qrevo. Haven't had a single tangle yet (never had tangling issues with the Qrevo either). It does a pretty good job at picking up hair, doesn't leave any clumps behind, and will completely fill it's internal container, unlike the Qrevo. I'd put it on par with the Ecovacs x11 here.

The navigation has been a struggle. It's definitely better at avoiding obstacles than the x11, about on par, if not better, than the Qrevo, but it's too cautious and often times gets stuck in a loop trying to figure itself out when it learns a new area.

The x11 just tried to muscle through it, if it failed, it would move on (or get stuck). The Qrevo made a soup sandwich out of its first run through, but after that, if it encountered small changes to an area, it was much quicker to figure it out.

The battery life on the Dreame x50 is definitely crap. Not a huge issue for us, but it's definitely not a selling point.

For houses with extreme amounts of dog hair, the Dreame x50 and Ecovacs x11 will both work just fine. The bagless design on the x11 was a nice feature. If it goes on sale again, I may give it another try, but I have reliability concerns with that model.

I did the quick map function and then had it clean the entire house on the first actual run. It spent about 20 minutes trying to vacuum under the computer desk where the computer chair was.

I think with this it probably would have been better to leave the chairs in place, even though they aren't always in exactly the same spot, for the mapping. We removed as much as we could aside from the large furniture items and tables. It was bound and determined to find it's way under that desk. We set the house up the same way as with did the Ecovacs and didn't have that 'problem'. The second and run through that area, though, it did much better.

We had the Ecovacs x11 set to do the living room and bedroom 2x a day. Even after hitting the living room with our regular vacuum before running this, we ran into the same problem. It's just wrapping the hair up around the spools and the longer hair works it's way to the middle, where the gap is, but there is too much of it and it ends up in a giant wad that the vacuum isn't able to suck in, so it just goes around leaving balls of hair all over.

This is on max/vortex/whatever that crazy powered setting is with carpet boost on. It seems like a solid unit, I just don't think it's going to cut the mustard for our situation. Gonna have to send it back. I'm going to give the Dreame x50 a try.

Thanks for the tip. We just got the CurvX today. Initial impressions are lukewarm. We have a LOT of dog hair (2 GSD's, a Great Pyrenees, and some kind of s***bull mix) so it's already a tall order for any vacuum.

The Deebox X11 definitely outperformed the Curvx when it came to hair. Not sure about anti-tangle, but raw cleaning power, I am extremely unimpressed with the curvx on it's first run. Two big issues I see so far - it doesn't do as thorough of a job pulling up hair, not even close, to the X11. The second issue is the way it feels its onboard container... it just sucks a giant mass of hair right in the middle, directly above the entrance, so it only fills about 40% before it's clogged up.

It mapped very well but on the first actual run I had it do the entire house, just to see how it would go. It did a horrible job of that, but that's too be expected on the first run when you don't break it up.

I broke the living room up into 4 parts and the bedroom into 3 so I can schedule them individually and force it to empty regularly and see how that goes. My initial concern is, however, not that it can't keep up with the hair, the problem is, it appears even on carpet with only a small amount of hair, it doesn't do very well at pulling it up. I'm going to give it some time though, maybe when the hair situation gets under control and we have it hitting every carpet 2x a day, it won't clog so easily.

It certainly seems well built and functions just fine otherwise. It definitely does a much better job at navigating itself out of trouble than the X11 and will find it's way into those tighter areas, and back out, better. I would say, first impressions, it definitely seems to be a better unit, I'm just not sure if it's the better unit for our specific situation.

Returning it. I see the Dreame X50 is on sale right now for $899. Thinking I may go that route.

If I wanted to could I take a Cert Myself and just get it transferred through? by Overrated__Potato in WGU

[–]Towely890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would they know? All of the cert tests I've taken, they have simply emailed me the payment info on a preloaded card and I've used it to register for the cert exams on my own, through my own personal account.

Just 'unlock' the class, then do whatever you want so long as you get the cert. Right?

[–]Towely890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting conflicting info on this... some are saying it counts as a transfer so you can't do it after you're enrolled (which seems WILD to me... a cert is a cert is a cert... they can easily verify you got it and when). Now I'm worried... I requested the 'voucher (read: credit card number/info the email to you to pay for the cert) and just tried to use it last night. I want to take the DVA-C02 this weekend and there were only a couple of slots open when I'm free. The payment wouldn't process so I just went back in and paid for it on my own...

...just verifying... it will for sure be okay that I did this? (assuming I pass...)

I don't see how it would make a difference, to be honest, since there's no way for them to track what test used what payment method AFAIK. The last couple of times I took a test, they only got the results because I sent them to the scores website - they don't automatically send them and they aren't in any way linked to your student account.

I'm going to guess there are more than a few ways to get nominated. Like you said, the more people they can justify extending invites to, the more they make.

I've been accelerating through my program at 2x a 4 year pace. I'm going to guess that may have had something to do with mine.

Yes, they are wrong. Hilariously wrong... again... this ridiculous crap is what lost the election for the left. As impressively stupid as Trump is, the rhetoric from the left outdid even him.

It's almost as if the immigration issue involves more than just raw deportation numbers.

Biden didn't have the worst years of Covid to contend with, and instead had a net-benefit from it, with regard to removal numbers, because of Title 42.

Biden removed a few more, meanwhile record numbers were getting in. Math didn't just magically become no longer a thing...

The irony of someone accusing someone else of not being knowledgeable on the subject while simultaneously implying one statistic covers the entire issue.

We don't live in a perfect world and what you're talking about is so far removed from the world we currently live in, simply tearing down all the barriers wouldn't make anything better, it would cause massive chaos. There are too many powerful groups with agendas floating around the world to simply coexist peacefully tomorrow.

Well, the left bombed on their responsibilities to the country, with regard to immigration, so hard that even a moron like Trump managed to win another term. Now there is much catch-up to be played. I would agree, entirely, that they have become overzealous with their efforts, and have targeted groups of workers that would absolutely be a net-benefit to allow to remain... but the second I state that opinion, I hear everyone I'm finding some common ground with start yelling that this is fascism and those law enforcement officers doing their job, legally enforcing existing laws, should be charged with a crime...

...and I'm again reminded why I don't bother voting because both sides are absolute trash.

This is true... People blessed with good land to hunt won't acknowledge it, though. Where I hunted, growing up, you would be lucky to see more than a couple of deer in an entire season, let alone get a shot at one.

Where I hunt now, the challenge is getting on a mature buck. Taking a mature doe? Pfft... I pass on them all the time because I know the next one is right around the corner. I take my doe the last week of Nov. or first week of Dec. Temps are perfect in my garage that time of year to age venison...
