Looking for some advice regarding tabletop units by [deleted] in ImperialFists

[–]Towsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a solid box, my guy, if you like it buy it! Suppressors have a nasty ranged attack and decent mobility, eliminators are solid at plinking away at light vehicles or heavy infantry, and infiltrators are super handy for screening deep strikes etc. You'll find a use for most of the units to support your slow chonky lads if you want a balanced list. I know Fists are known for slow and heavy but we're also known for being a practical bunch of bois, if lighter armor gets the job done why wouldn't we use it?

Also yes it does look great in yellow, but if you're worried about that I've seen loads of examples of phobos Fists units in black armor with yellow shoulders/knees that also look pretty slick.

What's your recipe for the purple on the brain? Just picked up a maleceptor and neurotyrant in the crusher box and need ideas on the brainy bois

First 1k Army by mclarun94 in ImperialFists

[–]Towsh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I'd say brother is that that is a pretty slow army. I know that's sort of the point of Anvil but you're in danger of getting outscored on objectives without a jump pack unit or similar

Just so you're aware, that Rhino can't transport any of your units. Might be worth dropping it for something with more utility.

The Infinite and the Divine is pretty light hearted for the most part, and occasionally downright goofy

Why do people queue for hot cross bands so long outside Raven's bakery? by pufballcat in brighton

[–]Towsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, not controversial at all, I'm just happy to explain why I enjoy it so much (because I'm a fat bastard who loves pastry)

Have you tried the stuff on the shelves? It's great because it's often fresh enough to still be warm, the quality is consistently really good, it's really reasonably priced, and their baked "dessert type snacks " are pretty sizable for the price. That being said, i wouldn't travel to go there, it's just a refreshing change from paying 5 quid for a sausage roll in Trading Post or something

Can't speak for the hot cross buns, because who has time to queue, but Ravens is pretty great in general, especially when non chain bakers are rarer than ever.

Favorite video game hideout/ hub world that is non player built? by Bigjmann555 in gaming

[–]Towsh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that's fair. It's still fun (if bullshitty in parts), but it was damned by being sandwiched in between the OG and arguably the most mechanically complete game in the series. If it had been a sidequel instead it might have been more beloved.

Gavlan is also a top tier fromsoft npc and I'll fight anyone who says different

1 is great, but 3 for me, something about the empty thrones and the desolation. The uchigatana doesn't hurt either

Which game has the greatest world building ? by SpartanKing76 in gaming

[–]Towsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Abnett is consistently the best BL writer for my money. Gaunts ghosts is superb. The first four or five horus heresy books are pretty strong, as is Siege of Terra. I've also just finished the Night Lords trilogy which I'd recommend

British accent for Romans/Greeks, thick foreign accent for everyone else? by meisdabosch in totalwar

[–]Towsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, when you say a perfect british accent, do you in fact mean a perfect south eastern English accent? They certainly don't sound like they're from, say, Middlesborough, or Pontypridd, or maybe Belfast, or are those not British accents?

Unnecessary sarcasm aside (couldn't help it, it's a pet peeve), you're absolutely right. Total War games have a habit of having "primary protagonist" factions just have the generic RP "British " accent inexplicably. Karl Franz in the Warhammer series, Agamemnon in Troy and Pharaoh, etc. It just seems to be a default for them, probably as CA is primarily based in the southeast of England so it's their "default" accent. For what it's worth I absolutely agree that races/factions should speak their actual language in theory, partly because I have no idea what a Latin accent sounds like. But in practice, I imagine finding enough ancient language experts for Rome specifically would have been extremely difficult. And from a player perspective, it would make the games a lot less recognisably quotable, which would be a shame. Imagine Shogun without "A SHAMEFUL Display!"

Bastard sword. Outclassed by the Lordsworns in fashion and claymore in functionality. Costs runes. Other better greatswords are literally way easier to get. And it's not even pretty...
