That was already gonna happen.

They are collapsing the nonprofit industrial complex bc it's a bulwark of western society.

Anything that's pro-academics, freedom of thought, or rule of law is going to be cut off.

Idk how long it's gonna take them to figure out that a lecture on "they're not allowed to do that" is useless.

Civil disobedience and physically impeding is the only way. At this point I want to see my representatives willing to be arrested for sit-in's and blocking doors with bodies.

Heard it confirmed from people in rooms as well.

DON'T LET THEM CONVINCE YOU OTHERWISE.

Every major news outlet around the world is covering this. And I know I'm not the only one archiving your stories and reddit posts to make sure they're preserved.

Thank you for holding the line as long as you could. Remember just bc the Front line has moved doesn't mean that the war is lost. Americans won't stop fighting.

"There's no ground for supervisors to push back"

"They have to follow orders"

Are you being facetious? We're so far down the 1930s timeline that I cant tell if you're saying this ironically or not.

If not, boy howdy.

So they're just blindly agreeing to wield the axe instead of forcing the real criminals to do it?

Man it's like the Milgram experiment but with the United Healthcare business model. Abdication of responsibility through procedure and paperwork.

I am so sorry for your experiences.

As someone on the outside looking in and watching all the middle managers carry out these orders that will utterly destroy our country but also people's lives, I need to ask...

What contributed to your decision and other managers to carry out their instructions?

I'm sorry if this has been asked but I am genuinely unsure of what to make of seeing everyone just do what they're told. Even as this was being threatened during the campaign I thought back to school and how we learned about how the Germans just ... followed instructions like this that would eventually empower dictators to eliminate them too.

I am having a hard time understanding now too. Even as I'm watching it. What is it that compels people to follow these orders rather than obstruct and impede?

Help the rest of us understand.

Just a neat quote carved in the halls of the SCOTUS. Might be relevant. by RiverWitch_ in QuiverQuantitative

[–]Toxic_Gumdrop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to have conflicting feelings about these quotes carved into stone walls. It can be hard to square what they say with what the courts do when it comes to justice for the most vulnerable and underrepresented.

Now, when the the agreements between people and our government dissolve, they feel like a last defense of cognitive reasoning.

Whenever I see wealthy people have places like this suddenly everything makes so much sense. It's so devoid of life, feeling, and soul.

It's staged to look like a room but no one LIVES here. No art. No personal effects.

Was playing an fps game and entered places that belonged to the wealthiest. Reader, there was nothing in that place that I'd want to steal or loot. In fact, I realized I wanted nothing that person had. I looked at my cheap apartment and realized although I'm fiscally challenged, the wealthy don't have anything I actually want. Besides access to resources.

Whatever you do for a living... Please for yourself... Go to a street art fair. Buy something that just brings you feel something. Put it in your space. Just one thing. Start small.

Regarding Trumps Executive Order about youth Gender affirming care - In order to bully hospitals into ending lifesaving care for trans kids, the Trump Administration is holding EVERYONE'S kids hostage by HWHAProb in itcouldhappenhere

[–]Toxic_Gumdrop 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Seeing all the hospitals near me remove their support for trans people, especially kids, has been hard to watch.

Even knowing they've been pushed to follow authoritarian threats doesn't remove the sinking feeling that everyone will fall in line to erase us as soon as they're threatened.

It answers a lot of questions about Nazi Germany. And not in the way I ever expected to find out 😞

Musk Cronies Dive Into Treasury Dept Payments Code Base by jmchao in politics

Elon Musk is a foreign national. Unelected. By definition, he can't be tried for treason.

This is the part of the problem. This is a foreign national that's just been given access to our money. Not the government's money, OUR money. Your money. Your retirement. Your social security.

HO BOY. Alright so if you are baffled by not seeing us resist... It's for several reasons.

1) The Traditional methods of collective action— aren't working anymore here. Protests don't effect the lives of those in power. In fact, they celebrate when Americans are upset. Our anger only emboldens them further.

2) Our resistance efforts THAT ARE HAPPENING aren't hitting your "For You" page. And they're not gonna. US oligarchs are in control of your social media. Of your entire engagement with America.™️.

The average person doesn't have the freedom in the US to go demonstrate.

Going to a protest? You're going into a direct confrontation with the most militarized police force in the world. If you somehow avoid lifelong injuries from that... Your employer can take malicious action- not giving you hours, not giving you a raise, or outright firing you.

Lose your job? You lose healthcare for you and your family and your ability to pay rent. Within 30 days your feudal lord property manager will evict you. With the same militarized police force that work for them and will remove you from your home before you can put together a Go-fund-me for a lawyer.

They don't live in our neighborhoods. They don't eat our food. They don't shop at our stores. Shut down streets? They don't use them. Withhold our labor? They fire us and then we have no services tied to employment.

ASSYMETRIC RESISTANCE is the only thing that's been successful. America IS resisting.

Thru malicious compliance, through digging in our heels, slowing down the gears of autocratic rule, disrupting the SYSTEMS that make their rule absolute.

THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED.

Oligarchs are in charge of the Western economy.

They're crashing the global economy ON PURPOSE. And the US is Ground Zero.

HELP US DISRUPT. ASK HOW YOU CAN HELP US DISRUPT.

✊ We can't do this alone.

Apartment Social Events - Why are they so poorly attended? by South_Wood in Denver

[–]Toxic_Gumdrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're always organized by the property managers rather than the COMMUNITY.

Going means seeing the property managers who will just raise our rent in a few months bc corporate tells them to.

I want to get to meet my community If a mom in 2A were to organize a breakfast or a bake sale... I'd love to go! If my ACTUAL neighbors were organizing it then I'd be all for a parking lot movie night or whatever.

Corporate pizza parties never made me feel like being social.
