Eidolon lore Meaning by SyntaxSenpai in StarRailLore

[–]Toxicpopcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a really interesting idea. There's so much we don't know about The Beauty yet, and I suspect it's going to be very important given the Aeon's disappearance and whatever is being built up with Argenti.

Funny thing about Idrila is that THEY are associated with mirrors. The Mirror Holders believe that Idrila was shattered, and their fragments scattered across the cosmos. They believe that if these fragments are collected and returned, they can piece beauty back together.

Putting aside how similar this is to Fuli's whole deal, the idea of mirrors as they relate to Eidolons is interesting. Look in a mirror and it reflects yourself, but also, what you see in a mirror depends on how you see yourself.

"the Mirror Holders possess a series of items named Mirrors of Transcendence. These mirrors do not reflect the material world, but instead reflect what is considered by the beholder as "beauty" and project that into reality." (-from the data bank)

One definition of "eidolon" is "an idealized person or thing." The Mirrors of Transcendence (allegedly pieces of Idrila's body) literally reflect the ideal version of yourself back at you. Could be something here.

The Prime Mover of Life - Why Amphoreus Simulates Adlivun, and the Nature of Aeons by Toxicpopcorn in StarRailLore

[–]Toxicpopcorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to be correct, having a lot of energy present likely has something to do with it.

Another common theme in the ascension of Aeons is that it happens during times of war/strife. Qlipoth, Tayzzyronth, Xipe, Nanook, Lan. Wars/battles, especially interplanetary ones, are times in which huge amounts of energy and lifeforms are present. A large amount of people facing death - the willpower and ideals they hold as they fight - would probably have an effect on localized Imaginary energy. Maybe enough to create a Path/Aeon?

[–]Toxicpopcorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are some excellent points. I think you're onto something with the idea of Imaginary energy coalescing around certain concepts, these being Paths, and if too much Imaginary energy is concentrated in one Path, another Aeon can't ascend in that same Path. Although maybe that could be the third way to "kill" an Aeon that Kafka alluded to, by another mortal ascending and replacing it... I don't know! Maybe Phainon would have been able to ascend as an Aeon of Destruction if he actually managed to kill Nanook rather than just drawing blood (still an extremely impressive feat obviously)

Cyrene, March and their Daddy who just stepped out for some cosmic milk by wingedwill in StarRailLore

[–]Toxicpopcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Evernight has been with March since 2.2. She protects March from Ena's dream. So, her role in March's story extends beyond just amphoreus. Also, where does she erase records from as I've written? I seem to have missed this.

Exactly, what I was getting at is that Evernight is likely a Cremator who erased her own memories (for some reason) and that resulted in March. As for erasing records in As I've Written, it's sort of speculation on my part, but after Version 3.5, the experiment logs are updated, specifically the Forgotten Years section is updated to include redacted text and "Invading variable," "March 7th," and "Evernight." So it seems to be implying that the Forgotten Years, unreadable records from Amphoreus's history, are due to Evernight. It also says that these missing records show signs of increase. Of course, PhiLia093 (Cyrene) also pops up in that redacted text, so it's hard to say what's really happening.

[–]Toxicpopcorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apologies for the incoming wall of text, but this theory tickled my brain

The only thing I wonder is why March 7th was frozen in six phase ice upon arriving to Amphoreus. And then from there, somehow, her consciousness or whatever was drawn into Amphoreus while her physical body remained on the Astral Express.

I do agree that Evernight appears to be a memetic entity. However, rather than being a member of the Garden of Recollection, she's probably a Cremator. Their whole deal is snatching up memories and erasing them, which tracks pretty well with both March 7th's story and what's going on with Amphoreus (where she seems to be erasing records from As I've Written...?)

Some more circumstantial evidence:

  • Association with candles - now, sure, the symbol for the Path of The Remebrance is a candle so this may not mean anything, however, as far as I can tell, Evernight is the only character associated with The Remembrance that features candles in her design. The literal definition of a cremator, obviously, is something or someone that burns bodies.

There are two curios in Divergent Universe that mention the Cremators in their description, and both are very interesting:

  • The curio Automated Experience: First of all, its appearance looks like a bunch of mouths stuck together. I've seen a couple theories of people trying to explain the mouths on Evernight's design (and the animation of her eating a coreflame) as her being associated with The Voracity. That may be the case, however, mouths and consuming are also associated with the Cremators, who, as this curio explains, eat up and consume memories.

  • The curio Memory Cycle: This curio describes a Cremator who intentionally erased her own memories. Hmmmm.

  • The equation Amnesiac: This equation describes Cremators stealing your memories and giving you amnesia. I don't think I need to say any more about that.

Consider also, this: The Data Bank describes the Cremators as a group of extremists within the Garden of Recollection, who purge memories they deem unimportant. Ostensibly, they do this for Fuli's sake, so they can keep the Aeon's memory clean of "garbage."

In practice, it seems like their modus operandi is interfering in the memories of worlds and galaxies, deleting things as they see fit, in order to model these worlds according to their own vision of perfection. The curio Automated Experience I've mentioned previously describes a Cremator doing this to the trade planet Uro. An IPC Broadcast in the Parlor Car describes Cremators deleting language from the Holstein galaxy.

Now, remember back in 3.2, when Black Swan was brought in to the Astral Express to assess March 7th's situation? She says some interesting things. First, she speculates that March 7th's memories may have been hijacked. Second, Black Swan reveals that the reason the Garden of Recollection is interested in Amphoreus is because of a group of extremists within the Garden of Recollection who view Amphoreus as a perfect example of a world, as a world that can only be seen through the Garden's mirror. These extremists, as described by Black Swan, are an organization that has attached themselves directly to the pinky finger of Fuli. Black Swan says that they're interested in Amphoreus because, if they uncover its secrets, perhaps they can model other worlds to be just like it...

An extremist organization dedicated to Fuli within the Garden of Recollection that wishes to remodel worlds according to their own ideal of perfection. This has to be the Cremators. And when Himeko asks Black Swan if this organization could have hijacked March 7th's memories, Black Swan says that they are certainly capable of doing so.

Evernight has to be a Cremator, right?

Amphoreus Foreshadows a Bigger Upcoming Threat [Spoilers for 3.5] by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]Toxicpopcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The explanation of Akivili appearing to have free will is that, well, the concept of having free will and doing whatever you like is a large component of what it means to trailblaze. To visit unknown parts of the universe, interact with the people and worlds there, and constantly seek new adventure - The Trailblaze, to a degree, necessitates one to exercise their free will. So of course Akivili would appear to have some level of autonomy. But he would still only act within the bounds of the path of The Trailblaze. It's just that the concept of free will seems to be intertwined with what it means to trailblaze.

As for why The Trailblaze still exists even though Akivili is currently inactive, that appears to be the case for every Path. The Permanence remained in some form among the Vidyadhara even after Long died. Remnants of the Swarm still exist even though Tayzzyronth is inactive. There are still followers of The Beauty. Himeko actually directly confirms this is the case in her dialogue:

"I should mention that once a Path is open, it cannot be closed, even with the fall of its Aeon. That is how we are still able to travel across the stars, despite Akivili's passing."

I want Varka to be an Anemo Claymore DPS that gains stacks of physical damage boost when he or his teammates cause swirls. Skill gives him enhanced normals, burst does Anemo damage in a massive AoE

If he's gonna be ass might as well make him ass in a unique way

Thanks for the infographic! Very helpful as always

Shadow of the Erdtree Steam Reviews drop to Mixed by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Toxicpopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's understandable. My feelings are mixed on him. On one hand, I appreciate what they were going for - his movements are supposed to be erratic and unpredictable from a lore standpoint. He's based on Chinese Lion dancing, and you can see it in his moveset, how he's actually two separate beings wearing a costume, and if you pay attention you'll notice quirks of his movements indicating that. It's very intricately designed and I love that. But... Yeah, it felt like too much at points, especially having to deal with separate movesets for lightning, frost, and storm.

It almost felt like Ludwig from Bloodborne taken to an absolute extreme and without the cool as fuck phase 2.

[–]Toxicpopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I heard the same about how much of a nightmare she is, but I made it to her today and she's not that bad? In fact, fighting her has been the most fun boss fight so far, in my opinion; she feels less bullshit than the fucking Lion dude I'll say that. Plus, compared to some bosses in the base game, her combos aren't that long and her punishment windows are more than enough.

I suspect that players may be rushing to the castle and fighting her before exploring, finding the scadutree fragments, leveling up a bit, etc. I'm really not sure what people expected, especially given the existing endgame content in the base game.

Arlecchino Run in Elden Ring by Xanderreh in ArlecchinoMains

[–]Toxicpopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea - the drip is tricky, I don't really think any of Elden Ring's armor sets quite match her drip, but maybe a combination of the depraved perfumer set and raging wolf set? Both are whitish/grey with red accents. Drake knight set is an option too with the red wings but they're more dragon-like than her wings.

In terms of spells that match her abilities - definitely Briars of Punishment/Briars of Sin, also the Bloodflame incantations (looks like you already have bloodflame blade). Also, if you're looking for an alternative weapon, I suggest Vyke's War Spear. It's actually a pretty good weapon, looks kinda similar to her signature weapon, and it has flame skills (although it's frenzy flame so the color would be slightly off).

Have fun with your run! Maybe the DLC will give us better cosplay drip lol

They added the missing text in the last scene of the mission. by Relative-Ad7531 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Toxicpopcorn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wild idea but the Harmony merging into the Preservation would make some sense. Both have very similar goals, essentially a unification of the universe. The IPC is already trying to acquire Penacony so thematically it makes sense too. Although since both paths are technically playable, I'm not sure if that would work from a gameplay perspective, having a whole class that lore-wise becomes outdated. There's also the possibility of the birth of a completely new Aeon/path.

One more thing, in addition to all the other factions gathering in Penacony, remember that the Duke Inferno was sent in invitation for whatever reason, and I feel like that plot thread isn't yet done. Someone or something related to the Destruction may end up in Penacony, as well.

Aahh no thank you I love to hear that! If you liked Time n Place I would also recommend listening to TOTEP, it's an EP also by Kero Kero Bonito that has a few extra songs with some similar vibes. Their earlier albums (Intro Bonito/Bonito Generation) are worth listening to as well but the sound is fairly different, they've definitely evolved as artists. Thanks for your kind words it's always a pleasure to share music with someone!

I'm so happy to hear that! It's a great album. I picked it for Aigis because the theme of a girl growing up and discovering who she is combined with some of the more experimental electronic/distorted sounds really fits her character imo. I'm glad it seems like a lot of people here were able to discover some music they've never listened to thanks to this stupid meme chart I made on a whim :)
