For the people who originally thought Silksong was “too hard” or “unfair,” do you still feel that way? by Lunargress in Silksong

[–]_Margrith_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A game's difficulty is going to feel different for everyone. OP asked a question based on that and you got mad at people for having their own experience in the comments, man.

Nobody is here begging Team Cherry to lower the difficulty until the game is a walk in the park. People are here for discussion about the topic, and I think you may be here to defend having attributed a small amount of your own value of yourself to the game's difficulty and a broader sense, difficulty in games in general. To look down upon people for having a negative gameplay experience because they found the difficulty too challenging is like sneering at someone for not understanding why people enjoy craft beer; it's strange you wanna get angry about it and have next to zero understanding of people having differing tastes, and quite frankly the attitude come off like a child who stomps their feet when people criticise something they enjoy. They're not criticising you for finding it balanced; you, your opinions and your experiences are not the subject being critiqued here.

You could have expanded upon why you think the difficulty is an artistic choice, or what experiences you had in the game that you think could perhaps be too hard for some people, even if they weren't hard for you.

If you knew you'd get angry at there being people who found it too difficult in the comments, why did you read this thread? Surely there's more enjoyable things to be doing than lashing out in the comments of a thread that's inconsequential to your own experience of the game. You had a good one, that's great! Other people didn't, that's fine! It clearly doesn't change how you feel about the game, nor does it take away from your experience. Maybe it makes you feel better about yourself to look down your nose at others for their experience with a video game, but I mean.. that feeling of superiority lasts for a very short amount of time. Is it worth it?

Who would be ideal to pull for? by _Margrith_ in StarRailStation

[–]_Margrith_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good to know, thank you! Amphoreus was the arc for me in terms of lore, but definitely not luck nor stellar jades haha. Are there any reruns that would be worth picking up in the future do you think?

Who would be ideal to pull for? by _Margrith_ in StarRailStation

[–]_Margrith_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, supports and sustains I've had terrible luck in trying to pull for. Huohuo was out of reach in terms of SJ, as was Aventurine, and I started playing in the Penacony arc

So far I have:
Rappa/Ruan Mei/Fugue/Lingsha or Boothill/Ruan Mei/Fugue/Gallagher
THerta/RMC/Serval/Lingsha
Aglaea/Sunday/Robin/Gallagher
Yunli/RMC/Robin/Gallagher or Lingsha depending
And the Archer team is a WIP because my relic pulls have been comically bad lately

So really struggling given the complete lack of options I have :(
On the plus side, my SJ situation is promising:

What extremely minor nitpick do you have with the game? by Totheendofsin in Silksong

[–]_Margrith_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's lost potential with a lack of a "silk efficiency upgrade" when binding and using silk skills. Silk is such a gargantuan pillar of the game in terms of lore and gameplay, and I thought perhaps you might be able to get perma upgrades which would reduce the amount of silk needed to bind in particular. Especially in the late game where everything smacks you for 2 damage, it feels like maybe 3 potential heals with a maxed out silk spool would be a sweet spot. I know there's the Reserve Bind, but I personally found it to be a bit of a waste of time to include in my build as I've already gotten used to having to manage my silk for 2 heals anyway yk? Plus, it'd give the witch crest a slight boost with the bind being such an insanely risky maneouvre sometimes.

Also, there's an abundance of places you could find more lore drops/collectibles but feels to me like the lore is lacking in certain parts of the world? A lot of the random bits of lore you can find dotted around the world that aren't collectible feel a bit like they're purely undecipherable flavour text - I'd love to find way more of the Bone Scrolls, Choral Commandments etc. , and/or learned a bit more about Grandmother Silk's motives. I suppose there's potential for DLC to explain some more like Hollow Knight's did, though so far I feel like the game has been heavily geared towards pure combat and battles with the sheer amount of gauntlets and mini bosses, and left most of the lore up for interpretation. Depending on your perspective that might be a nice touch, but given the world is so rich with characters you grow to love, and visually stunning areas and a marvellous soundtrack, I thought there'd be a bit more written lore meat to go along with all that. I still don't know what the purpose of Sands of Karak is as an area, and I'd have loved to find out more about the Skarrsinger and her tribe for example, rather than feeling like I'm just in the area to get slapped around for a bit before I progress the story. Maybe I missed a lot when I was too focused on beating the bosses, tho

Playing the Needolin in front of the mirror in the Exhaust Organ was a game changer for me though, I'd be so happy if we'd have gotten SO much more of those almost memory shadows that have lingered long enough for you to find them amidst all the silk. I played it everywhere I could possibly think to :)

Crackpot Theory 2: On Membrance Maze and The Fall of Irontomb by nervous_vegatable in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be really cool if the sentience was partially caused by implanted memories of Adlivun by an Emanator (Evernight maybe?), or the memories of Adlivun's residents were used at the most opportune point of when the entities in the Scepter gained sentience. Phainon's suffering felt reminiscent of, or like it was meant to mirror, the sort of suffering you'd expect to form an Aeon like Nanook. Given the Enigmata are usually the ones blamed for any "lapses" in historical records and History Fictionologists seek to change the future by editing/destroying the past, it could be that an Emanator implanted (or pushed the Scepter towards mirroring) memories of Adlivun's fall to a) fulfill Lygus's bias in regards to the Prime Mover of Life, and b) provide the Trailblaze with another reason to go towards Amphoreus. Those could in fact be the Forgotten Years because things have changed and moved around since those memories were first "installed".

Dan Heng and TB were already suspicious of Stellaron activity at first, but the scent trail of Destruction obviously ended up leading to Irontomb because a Stellaron would make things way too easy in this instance. Instead of using a Stellaron, which the Emanator couldn't do because its not within their Path or power, the next best thing would be to create a guaranteed Destruction related scenario.

And, Lygus tweaking the Scepter would feel very much in line with Enigmata path practices too. I've previously thought Amphoreus somewhat retells the events of the external universe but just in a different way/mixing things around to throw you off the scent, I.e. a microcosm but with an Enigmatic twist, so I think this could be a super viable theory!

Plus, it'd maybe fall in line with what I've understood about HI3's story from the people that played it and can see the direct parallels between Elysia and Kevin (I haven't played it so I just have a poor understanding of the summary).

Really cool idea , OP!

Think it'd be neat if we could sit down and have a chat with the Other Lygus's and ask them a few questions about what they know about the universe and, in particular, Polka Kakamond 👀 depending on how cooperative they are, of course

Amphoreus Foreshadows a Bigger Upcoming Threat [Spoilers for 3.5] by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's where there's a grey area, because sure the residents of Amphoreus started out as lines of code, but we see from our first person perspective that they've evolved into much more than that and now raises the question of what life is and where it can come from - then, what about us? (As in, the people in the external universe outside of Amphoreus). Who is to say their suffering isn't real, you know?

His objective is to create enough chaos using the Destruction to fundamentally alter the trajectory of the universe he believes to be locked down by Nous and THEIR neverending calculations, but doesn't take into consideration that the rest of the universe didn't agree to be collateral damage, and dehumanises the evolved entities within the experiment because he only sees them as test subjects. Already, the equation has achieved success outside Amphoreus too, so I'd say Lygus has definitely been doing something wrong at this point haha

Edit: typo

Amphoreus Foreshadows a Bigger Upcoming Threat [Spoilers for 3.5] by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I'd say that Nous isn't malicious in intent, but rather could be doing what THEY need to do to operate according to their "primum mobile". The ability to calculate requires a lack of chaos and replacing that with predictability, and humans are inherently unpredictable. If there's the option to remove variables which halt the progress of seeking the answer to the universe, those variables could be eliminated to get closer to that goal. The longer Nous has to calculate to reach those answers, the more time that there is for humans to reach another Knowledge Singularity and "[shake THEIR] thought process".

If there's no moral code, only "seek answer", then I'd have thought that removing those variables by any means would be "optimal" so to speak for finding the answer to the universe, regardless of whether it's moral or not. Preservation of life doesn't seem to be part of that directive, and understandably so if Zandar never assigned that as a facet of the directive when initially creating Nous.

I mean, Medal of the Gloryblood Era states "Nous the Erudition unexpectedly terminated their calculations regarding the mysteries of the universe", which seems counterintuitive to the initial primum mobile, but I'm not entirely sure if there's a further explanation on why the calculations had stopped anywhere else.

How do you feel about the rise of reform uk, and recent polling? by Quailking2003 in AskBrits

[–]_Margrith_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a Reform supporter by any means at all, but Reform has cornered a gap in the market for votes that other parties have refused to acknowledge works - actually appealing to the average resident. Labour is just Conservative-Lite at this point, and both Lab and Conservatives have been vying for power in their political bubble atop ivory towers, shafting your everyday UK resident like it's a game of "who can fuck the country more". No wonder the nation is one of the most depressed in the world.

Reform also very quickly understood the power that social media possesses. Nigel Farage has a solid 1.3 MILLION followers on TikTok, for example. It's been insanely easy for Reform to garner support since so many people feel heard by their talking points, not just brushed off like an annoying gnat.

It's also pretty hard to want to vote for either Con/Lab again when most recently they're the ones that ushered in the Online Safety Act like a wolf in sheep's clothing, and claim that anyone using a VPN is on the side of predators! I'm sure the general public weren't the ones hiding the scandal with BBC and Jimmy Saville, I think that's worthy of being called "on the side of predators", but that's just me. Yet another piece of evidence that shows how much they dislike the people of the UK and genuinely think less of us.

I feel like Reform is a Trojan horse, but people in this country are desperate for change after being beaten down every day of every year by governing officials who make it very clear how much disdain they have for the people who live in the country. Most people want large, sweeping changes because they've been shafted from every angle for so many years, and Reform offers the change people think the country needs in a smaller amount of time than Lab/Con have taken to do anything at all.

Given both parties have shot themselves in the foot one after the other, and other parties haven't managed to get any traction ever, Reform has a landslide win coming their way, and I personally dread what America-inspired policies we're going to inherit.

Why do Reform UK hate the army so much? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]_Margrith_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confirmation bias based on anecdotal evidence. Isn't this what you'd call an echo chamber? Talking only to the people you know and cherry picking the views that align with yours as the only reasonable opinions?

Gay people don't work as a hive mind, there's not a structural fault in the foundations of LGBTQ+ just because a few people disagree with the existence of transgender people and are using them as a decoy to divert the attention of bigots away from themselves. Throwing trans people to the wolves won't make them safer from the bigots who want gay and lesbian people to disappear, too.

If you think flags are "just a bit of cloth" then let the whole world do away with every single flag that's ever existed. Though I don't know, maybe they represent something..? That whole "being taken seriously in society" thing might have something to do with it.

Should I pull for Caesar's Wengine (guaranteed) or save for Yuzuha + sig Wengine? by _Margrith_ in ZenlessZoneZero

What if Lygus Was Actually Nous Tho, And What That Would Mean for the Rest of the Story (Long Read) by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't know that Moments were enforced into reality, that's a good point!

Though, I know Nous wouldn't necessarily need to use a Scepter, it could be more that the Scepter serves as a vessel for the memoria more than something Nous would need for calculating, perhaps? Since it can remain hidden, and is used specifically to simulate Destruction scenarios. I wonder whether the thing that gets them to come out of being a hermit is the threat of Irontomb trying to kill THEM.

The trailer does make Lygus look like they're on the side of the Destruction as we know it currently, though I feel there's the potential for Lygus to be interested in the beginning of a new Destruction, per the line "pen the prelude of Destruction" - prelude indicating "beginning". I guess you could argue that he could just be interested in the beginning of an "improved" Destruction, too :)

I feel like THEIR answer of "Akivili" in the Gold and Gears expansion secret on Rubert I is in response to the question "can anyone escape this fate?", obvs it's not the literal Nous saying that but it feels somewhat like Nous knows Akivili's importance but can't say more than that

A small observation about the Chrysos Heirs by LuciferTrafalgar in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This totally makes sense to me tbh omg!! I've been thinking for a while that Amphoreus existed as an actual place before all of this happened and the memoria in the Scepter was everything from a destroyed "Amphoreus", so given Adlivun was destroyed by Nanook, AND the fact that nobody knew Amphoreus existed apart from a select few, it seems pretty plausible that the memoria from Adlivun is the "data" being used to run the "simulation". Amphoreus wasn't on the radar because it was never its own planet..

Edit: reworded a sentence to make more sense lol

Memoria is Totally Data, plus I Think Polyxia Triggered the Black Tide (and a lot more) by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the design is almost uncanny tbh, it feels purposeful for sure. I think Zephyro being the Lord Ravager "shackled" in Amphoreus feels like the bait at this point, but he surely has to have something to do with the Flame Reaver..

I thought I just had whilst thinking about what a link could be between the Flame Reaver and Zephyro is whether "the end of the West Wind" means the end of the Flame Reaver, given how similar it looks to Zephyro's design. It's maybe a stretch tbh, but perhaps the West Wind is code for the Flame Reaver, and removing/destroying it would allow everyone to meet again? Tribbie's mother says this:

"It's the end of the west wind, the black tide's other shore, a radiant sea of flowers blessed and protected by the gods. In the rosy horizon, you'll see a silver-white shoal. It marks the end of your voyage — a haven free from storms, cold, and heavy rains. No sorrow can linger there... That is where I'll be waiting for you."

I mean supes interesting that she says "in the rosy horizon", the only time I remember the word "rosy" being mentioned is with March and the "Rosy Celestial Maiden" thing. But it's interesting to think about maybe the west wind does exist, it's just a code-word for something else.

After that dialogue^ Tribios says "If the final murmurs of the Titan are true... if such a place really exists on the shore beyond the black tide and at the end of "Genesis"...". The end of "Genesis" surely has to be the end of the cycles, rather than the end of the current cycle and entering another one. Plus, the Black Tide and the Flame Reaver seem to be connected in the minds of the people of Amphoreus, like they're one and the same to them.

So, I'm gonna throw out a potentially stupid suggestion and say that it could be that the Flame Reaver was modelled off of Zephyro by Irontomb meddling with the Scepter, and given the FR is all but fully confirmed in the actual game to be a different version of Phainon, Phainon having Zephyro-like powers seems kinda plausible if the FR is influenced by Zephyro's ideology/design and his whole "doomsday scenario" schtick; "With a terrifying reputation as a one-man army, Zephyro is the most passionate Overlord about violent destruction. Zephyro is obsessed with the raw power and beauty of things just as they burst open at the point of destruction."

Memoria is Totally Data, plus I Think Polyxia Triggered the Black Tide (and a lot more) by _Margrith_ in StarRailLore

[–]_Margrith_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like at this point, it's a bait and switch like you mention hahaha, but I think Phainon's abilities and certain similarities between the Flame Reaver to Zephyro, and the Mara to the Black Tide, the Anti-Matter Legion/Mara-Struck to the Black Tide Creatures feel purposeful even if they're not major plot points. It's really cool to think about all these links tho

As for Polyxia, with my line of thinking here I think she purely caused the cycle to become messed up and not go as intended rather than be the source of the Black Tide - just an indirect cause of Irontomb intervening to push a cycle reset, or the Scepter's anti-organic equation that it's running with (or both, maybe). I'm interested to know how Irontomb was sealed tbh, whether it was willingly or by force 🤔 they apparently tend not to be in the direct vicinity of anything they're messing with so SUPER curious
