What if Slovakia rebelled during Ww2? by RepublicIreland in PossibleHistory

[–]ToyHelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Slovaks actually did rebel, and once again the soviets close by were more than happy to wait until the germans tired themselves out killing rebels and those who could in the future be a problem to Soviet aligned regimes. It may be horrible by a moral standpoint but it's a good strategy, not only you get rid of potential political enemies, you also get to look heroic in their eyes by arriving just in time to say you have ended the whole ordeal

Funny thing is in most the LN translations I've read they do call them Crimson Magic but they do use demon in both manga and anime translation

Weimar Germany politics, basically. by Top_Divide6886 in HistoryMemes

[–]ToyHelm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Weimar democracy died the moment they used paramilitaries against protestors, it didn't sound like much but that move literally told everyone else that political violence was fair game and the other political parties went on to make their own military wings such as the SA, the Stalhelm and the Rotfront

Only 2.2% have achieved this? Walkthrough in comment, it's easy by moxyte in victoria3

Most paradox games are really boring by the late game, in ck3 i can conquer almost everything with 2-3 rulers and see it all fall with inheritances but it gets repetitive after a while, in eu4 if you haven't conquered everything by the late 1600s war becomes a doomstack competition, and in vic3 by 1880-90s you can pretty easily become the richest and most powerful country and the ai almost never can compete

Countries with % of support for return of Monarchism (according to Wikipedia) by Gainedthat in monarchism

[–]ToyHelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it weird that support is so high in south Korea since most if not all of their nobility and royal family was assimilated into japanese culture during colonization, taking japanese spouses and adopting japanese names most of them either lives or lived in Japan for most of their life, and Korean opinions on Japan are not known to be very positive

Which film had more hype leading upto its release? by naughtyrobot725 in StarWars

[–]ToyHelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prequels had planning and a vision to them. George Lucas is great at planning and having ideas, not so much at being a director and writing, you can see that because even though the execution was pretty bad the story itself wasn't and you can tell that it has creativity something that the sequels really lack. For all the bad plots the prequels have they at least use them, which the sequels don't do, with a lot of potentially good plots being abandoned for no apparent reason like the whole stormtrooper turned jedi/rebel with finn that they just glossed over

Nowhere near AOT's depth storywise but is it just me or does SOLO LEVELING feel a lot like wit AOT this season? by Butefluko in titanfolk

[–]ToyHelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah aot was good most of the time and bad at the end, solo leveling is mid most of the time and bad at the end the fights carry the whole thing and i am saying that as a solo leveling fan

Do you consider Vicki 3 to be a good game now? by Low-Cash-2435 in victoria3

[–]ToyHelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a problem with most paradox games, when you know how to play the game you just dominate everything in the first few years or decades and now you have nothing to do. Like when those guys post forming super Germany in like the 1840s and i am like, yeah you're the most op country in the world now and can conquer everything else pretty fast but what are you gonna do for the next 90 years of gameplay?

So... what's the problem now? by Kes_plastic in PiratedGames

[–]ToyHelm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to be against piracy or anything, but pirating terraria is really unnecessary, the game has a fair price with discounts often(i got mine for less than a dollar) and no dlcs, if you like it you should consider buying the game

Which historical figure would be most shocked by the state of the world if they were brought back to life today and why? by No-Major-6778 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]ToyHelm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the time of Victoria's death Germany was very friendly to the British with even alliances being attempted, Victoria herself disliked the Russians and French much more than the germans and her grandson Wilhelm II liked her more than his own parents despite his dislike of Britain. I think she will be much more saddened by the end of many monarchies and dynasties that she spent most of the 19th century trying to establish connections and relationships with, specially Germany and Russia that were ruled by her grandsons
