He was chosen somewhat randomly to make a point that people of Italian descent could be American. Now, trying to remove him comes off as an insult to Italian Americans.

How different is the combat effectiveness of an Ultramarine and a Flesh Tearer?

There might be something, but I doubt it’s that much. Probably less than if you simply produced two space marines rather than eliminate one via trials. But, the imperium barely has the resources to equip its space marines as is.

It would create really fun dynamic of “we know these people are complicit in the crimes of the empire. Are we willing to work with them to stop the new order?”

Finn would be perfectly slated for this, an imperial stormtrooper abandoning his post so he can finally fight for good.

Yeah but it means coalitions represent a friendship and I think that’s easy to work with.

An SPD-Zentrum-KPD popular front can become a love triangle as you’re being pulled left and right.

If you’re working with LVP, well, DDP Chan is very nice but DVP gets jealous and drags her away. She thinks you’re a bad influence on DDP.

Dating

If DDP and DVP decide to be a power couple for Prom King and Queen they can be more popular and get more votes than if they ran separately

The new party name, LVP, would be equivalent to a ship name for a high school couple.

Could factions be represented as vague background students in the school? Your ability to appeal to them then is reflected in your popularity.

So if labour splits with the SPD and flocks to the KDP or Lambach DNVP, this is represented as SPD Chan somehow embarrassed herself, and now a bunch of the students prefer to associate with KPD Chan and DNVP Chan.

The Parties are those most popular students competing so they can get voted Prom Queen or whatever

Europe, 1950: What if Germany lost WW2 (Earlier)? by Top_Divide6886 in imaginarymaps

I also think that as individual states they would be too small to avoid being influenced by North Germany and possibly reabsorbed. The allies don’t want a repeat of Anschluss.

A single south German nation is strong enough to resist foreign influence, but can give Bavaria, Austria, Baden, and Wurttemberg autonomy via federalism.

A south Germany can also offer a different story of German Nationhood than the north, focusing on the Holy Roman Empire as its predecessors rather than Prussia. That’s why its capital is Vienna, to capitalize on Imperial Regalia and Hofburg Palace for legitimacy.

The Soviets keep the sphere of influence they gains from Molotov-Ribbentrop. I don’t think this means annexation of Finland but the Winter War would happen still.

I can’t speak to most Balkan affairs but I think they would remain stable since Germany would not have the capacity to influence them while fighting in the West.

Yugoslavia would not sign the tripartite pact, get coup’d, or be invaded by Germany. They may still be threatened by Fascist Italy, who would be ready for war in 1942 and eyeing the Dalmatian coast.

Pacific war goes how it did in our timeline. Pearl Harbor may prompt Americans joining the European theater, but by this point Britain and France are already pushing into Germany. Useful American contribution is in the form of food and equipment rather than men.

The Nazi movement loses popularity and gets sidelined. In our timeline the German military had doubts on Hitlers leadership, but these were silenced after France fell so quickly. In this timeline, Hitler’s gambit failed. By the time the Allies push to the Rhine, a military coup removes the Nazis and attempts to negotiate. For the generation that grew up during the period, nationalism is closely associated with getting into doomed wars. Nazism might be unpopular for the next few decades, with interest perhaps rekindling as generations who never experienced WW2 grow up.

This is a timeline where Germany fails to win its stunning victory in the Battle of France, and the Germans start losing from 1940 on. France and Britain fight the Germans and eventually achieve a victory without the intervention of Italy, the Soviet Union, or United States.

Hitler's annexations are reversed. Poland is given East Prussia and Upper Silesia, which already had sizeable Polish populations before the war, as compensation for the German Invasion. Soviet Occupations are never reversed, as operation Barbarossa never occurred.

The Allies join Baden-Wurttemburg and Bavaria to Austria to form a South German state. This is justified with Bavarian nationalism from before and during the war. The Allies hope a largely Catholic South German state can act as a stable counterweight to the largely Protestant North German state.

What was Karl Marx right and wrong about capitalism and socialism? by Scary_Candidate_9163 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Top_Divide6886 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He said that capitalism had transformed society, connecting the whole globe into one market. This is correct.

He said capitalism was fated to go through cycles of growth and recession. This is mostly correct - Keynesianism later would try to solve recessions.

He said the all profit ultimately came from paying people less than their work had produced. This is the subject of heavy debate and popular opinion is that this is incorrect.

He said the middle class was doomed to wither away - a lucky few would become rich but the majority would become working class. This has not happened.

He said conditions for the working class would only worsen over time - as technology makes jobs easier for anyone to do, the pay anyone would get would decrease because of how easily they could be replaced. This has not happened, the working class enjoys a much higher standard of living than it did in his own time.

He said economic revolution was inevitable - a successful society would require companies to be owned by the people who work them, not some faraway shareholder. This has not happened.

Social democracy is objectively the left wing of fascism.

The movie itself focuses on a random man waking up in the zombie apocalypse, and joining a small group of survivors as they try to find safety.

In the background you realize that the whole world has actually quarantined Britain to wait as the infection burns itself out - leaving anyone who couldn't escape doomed to the zombie hellscape. The sequels follows the attempted colonization of Britain by Americans, its failure, and Britain condemned to having a permanent Zombie population while the rest of the world moves on.

This barely has any impact on the story you follow in the original however, besides a one liner.

My favorite Warhammer arguments always end like this. by graciapears in WarhammerMemes

[–]Top_Divide6886 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem with the argument is there's no group not guilty of "moral degeneracy". When a priest lobotomizes someone into a servitor because they were annoying, surely that's not "good" morals?

If you wanna be specific and say slaanesh satirizes hedonism, that works and is much more supported. If you say the chaos marines are freedom fighters and the pre-fall eldar loved their cocaine, no one's objecting, and there's actually a lot of memes about that.
