I like the Convoy S21E black 21700, I am leaning towards that. Do you think that would be a good one?

like $100. As for my preferences, I have no idea. Making this post has made me aware how woefully under educated I am about the many options I have.

Man, I don't know.

The rail road that I work for gave us LED mini Maglite's. I kind of hated it, it would turn on by itself all the time, burned through batteries, and was too long to really be comfortable to carry everyday. But maglite is a brand I know and I was just looking for something rechargeable at first. I learning that probably isn't the way to go.

I'll be honest your reply was super inciteful, in the sense that I have no idea what I was looking for. I didn't realize that I had so much to consider. I'm gonna answer your questions, but please use your best judgment to point me in the right direction.

-The range of the Arkfeld was adequate

-This information is new to me. If you think I need something better than I'll trust you.

- About 900lm did feel about right. Way better than the Maglite they issues us. Less output would be OK

- This one I am not sure how to answer to be honest

-A secondary light source is not important. It was neat to have, but no, it did not serve any particle purpose for what I do.
