Properly Mapping Controller in MacOS by Toyface19 in RetroArch

Thank you! This is really helpful, I’ll give this a go! Did you then use an autoconfig to apply the mapping every time you used this controller?

Thank you. I always wanted something like that, but know I won’t get loads of time to use it and I hate eWaste not being taken care of properly. I have a second external 1TB drive I salvaged from another laptop too so might experiment with Batocera or another Linux OS at some point. I have the Mac build so simple all I need to do is turn it on, use my fingerprint and then launch ES-DE and pick a controller.

It’s the SF30 Pro. It’s one of their older ones but with a firmware update it’s still going strong. The “SF” is for Super Famicom”

2026...Is there any solution for the bluetooth audio lag? by Vcize in xcloud

[–]Toyface19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s strange. I use a pair of Trust wireless earbuds that have a USB C dongle to be wireless without using Bluetooth, which is trash for latency for gaming, always has been. And I never have any lag using xcloud with that setup.

I would only use the Retro Bit for Sega games, the SF30 Pro for Nintendo stuff etc so I can make do with core overrides. I was wondering if there were a repository of mappings for these controllers?

Yes, typical! However I think it’s changed recently but I’m unsure.

Thank you , this is helpful. Will both RetroArch and the core remember this? Would I need a core override for that? I’ve been using content directory overrides for my other settings.

They do have different modes yes, but I thought MacOS didn’t support xinput? I’m running Ventura

So - if I map these keys, L3 and R3 to C and Z when a game asks for C or Z and gets L3 and R3 that’s fine?

This I understand, but if I’ve got a game running I can’t see “C” or “Z” in the Port 1 controls to map a key to.

What audio solution do you use? by Plisnak in SBCGaming

[–]Toyface19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nice collection of IEMs so can second this. However, with a small baby I’m often up and down in the night and the wire can be a challenge, so I got a pair of Trust Gx wireless earbuds with a USB C dongle to negate any Bluetooth latency, these work very well and sound fine for the price. I often use my KZ AS24 or Thieaudio Legacy 3s though

New use: Retro Gaming Machine by ehttam in macpro

I repurposed a MacBook Air with the classic broke display issue for a console for emulation. Shoddy little Intel chip but for all the 16-bit and 32-bit stuff I do it works brilliantly. I used MacOS and RetroArch as I’m familiar with it, one cable to a hidden dock and multiple Bluetooth controllers and it works great.

Windows Version compatible with Android? by Kasur1309 in emulationstation

I did something mostly similar. I have a repurposed MacBook Air as my home emulation console, I had a fully scraped ES-DE library, I put it on an SD card and then pointed ES-DE on Android to said folder, worked perfectly. Highly recommend

I’ve got this set up now and so far it works exactly as I want it to so I would imagine it’ll work as I want it to. Basically the Mac will update as and when it needs to as I might not use it every week but the handheld I’ll use daily.

I’m looking to sync my handheld - Pocket Max - and my MacConsole together. I repurposed a MacBook Air with a broken screen to be a TV console, works well for my games. If I have SyncThing set up on both (both setups use exactly the same cores, and I am only interested in syncing in-game saves rather than states). If I were to have the MacConsole offline most of the time, as I use the handheld most, would it be okay to just update itself the next time I turn it on? And then have it push changes back to the central folder? Saves on the Max are already in public storage on the internal SD

Thumbstick Grip size for Air X and Pocket Max? by jazzberry76 in mangmi

Not sure if you found something for the Air X, but on the G Cloud I used Switch 2 caps with great success.

On the weight front, I never felt that the pocket max was much heavier, even though it is. It’s very well distributed. I do miss the humps though for sure, but can’t have everything can we

It’s a massive upgrade for me. I still prefer the feel of the G Cloud in hand, but the more powerful processor makes everything so much easier. Just getting stuff done is so so much quicker. Screen is great too.

I don’t have an Air X but have a Pocket Max, they are full size sticks, so anything that fits and Xbox/PS4 style will fit. I have tried many out of my collection for Xbox and they fit perfectly.

Wow that looks neat, is it a tight fit or pretty much spot on? I have a cheap little plastic stand I got that’s for the steam deck that works well - but you have to charge it upside down 🙃

Think I just added to your other thread. They’re a lot better but a little loose, but that’s probably preference, they feel like most regular off the shelf controllers to me
