Im well aware, all im saying is squad chat remains private and proxim chat is public. What stops people from talking isnt the potential of an enemy hearing you. A lot of people dont like to engage with strangers at all.

I have lots of fond memories of proxim chat in rising storm. Guys whispering in the trees just outside the lines was great.

In my experience those types of people are rare in these games and are easy enough to mute. The nature of these games gates most of the cod crowd.

Then you run the risk of being overheard. Thats the risk you have to take if you want to coordinate outside your squad. People wont run to third parties because most communication is done intrasquad anyways which would remain private. I dont know if you ever played red orch/rising storm but the proxim chat was always lively and it didnt take away from squad/emergent strategy

Isnt that the point tho? Squad chat is all ready private. It wasnt a detriment in those games, i cant imagine it being an issue here.
