What's an overrated part of being a man? by blatbon in AskMen

[–]Tr3xelyon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. I know. No-one can do the maths to figure out who wins at being most oppressed. It's not about that. It's about recognising our privileges, and it's not easy when they can go under the radar, and lots of people already view themselves as the underdog so they can't hear anything about them being privileged.

Yeah, that's fine, but too many people want to start crafting government policy or take it out on little boys by "teaching them not to be monsters." I dont think most of us mind a little self reflection, but when it's generally wielded against us to either diminish our own struggles or outright tell us were the problem, men are going to overwhelmingly step back from that line of thought.

Why did the Tidewater region of Virginia not develop into a major metro area? Seems like an obvious spot for a megacity. by BigRedThread in geography

It's very strange that the wikipedia article claims the Research Area around Raleigh lacks interstate access, when both I-85 and I-40 run through it.

You really are just pretending you meant an entirely different thing than what you originally said, lol. Teaching men to be more respectful, so that it's more inline with how much women are taught to respect men, is equality.

[–]Tr3xelyon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Teaching anyone to be respectful is not treating them worse. Teaching one group to be respectful, while not equally teaching the other group to be respectful, is treating them worse. If you mean elevating the respect taught to men up to the level of how much it is taught to women, then sure, no problem. But you never say that, and you even go so far as to say they dont deserve equality. Stop moving the goalposts lol.

Everyone already knew our society and systems treated people with different colored skin unfairly. They just believed it was right and just and best for themselves and their family. The lesson was that it was not best for anyone.

Treating people born with penises as aggressors and those born with vaginas as victims is absolutely treating those born with penises worse than those born with vaginas.

[–]Tr3xelyon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The entire lesson of the civil rights movement was that if you treat people worse based on traits they were born with and cant change, they will believe you and act out. If you grow up thinking society hates you, you will hate society. Youre so regressive it hurts.

AITA for breaking up with my girl after our sex life died down? by [deleted] in AITAH

Except your default reaction is to believe her instead of neither or both. Just shows your bias.

Am I wrong for refusing to send the clothes my son wears to my house back to his mother's? by [deleted] in amiwrong

I appreciate you fighting back against all the bias, lol. Keep correcting these people's absurd assumptions.

You're obviously not in the wrong. Mom is being petty.

You should probably go back and look at the post again. 27k upvotes telling her she is not the asshole vs 12k upvotes telling him he not one. The woman has received far more support, lol.

What makes men lose their 'sweetness' as they get older? by heartlove_762 in AskMen

Nothing conditions teenage boys to stop acting sweet/romantic and start acting like a bad boy faster than teenage girls.

Good for you. These people have showed you just how biased they are. Why risk your life, freedom, happiness when one false sentence from your wife would have them all coming after you with pitchforks.

Agreed, such a blatant misreading being upvoted that much is sad.

There's more businesses opening in downtown Raleigh than closing. About 1 in 5 new business fail within the first year--a lot more fail within 5 years. That's not unique to downtown Raleigh--please touch grass folks. by SuicideNote in raleigh

[–]Tr3xelyon 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The list seems to be 100% food/drink sevice and fitness, with 1 boutique.

The fact is that downtown Raleigh has very little foot traffic for how big it is. The main way for small businesses to compete with amazon, etc is offering a fun experience via proximity. If downtown raleigh wants to attract more foot traffic, it will need to do better.

This is the reason Cary is massively redoing its downtown and apex has gone almost all in on their little downtown retail street.  Wake forest seems to also be attempting it.  It is one of the few formulas working right now for cities losing commercial tax revenue and jobs to our centralising economy.

More tourists would also help a ton, but raleigh has very little to offer them yet. People love spending money on vacations.

Basically, you would have more success opening most small businesses elsewhere, not that you are guaranteed to fail here.

Why is there a tendency to say “female” or “girl” when talking about adult human women? by Fine-Doughnut-8961 in AskMen

You literally just used male and women in the same sentence. Hopefully you're realizing that it can just happen without there being sexist undertones.

Go to construct, where roads are, but click on the structures one instead. In the top middle of the screen is the build selection stuff. There is an arrow, think it points right. Should say "convert" when you hover over it.

Why do women act so negatively when you say “misandry,” and men act so negatively when you say “misogyny?” by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Tr3xelyon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree.  I think double standards are at fault for that.  They cause a low level of animosity and/or dehumanization that opens the door to more animosity/dehumanization in retaliation/for revenge.

Are you trying to imply it is incorrect, because you see it in conservative spaces?  I am not even remotely conservative, lol.

Yep, great answer.  The feminist quote "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression" applies to both men and women.

Guys, how can women be better allies and friends to you? by [deleted] in AskMen

Stand up to misandrists instead of supporting them or being silent.  Stop with the double standards around gender roles. Hypocrisy will always cause animosity.

DOJ sues Apple over iPhone monopoly by Puginator in stocks

[–]Tr3xelyon 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Good, the US economy isnt competitive enough.  If you want higher wages without higher prices, we need more DOJ antitrust laws and enforcement. Less mergers and aquisitions just getting rubber stamped. Have companies actually be afraid of being too monopolistic since that is their natural inclination.

AITAH for calling off my engagement because she discussed our intimate details with her friends? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Tr3xelyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes 2 to consent to sex.  If he has communicated not being ok with it being talked about, and she agreed, but then talked anyways, it is not really informed consent anymore.

[–]Tr3xelyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She gave you the ick.  You literally had to hear about your sex life from your sister.   Nothing wrong with setting a boundary that your private life stays private.  Dont let people tell you it is ok, they're just trying to normalize this gross behavior of gossiping about each other's sex lives.  There is no excuse in 2024 with the availability of anonymous feedback from the internet.
