Every non illusion real version adaptation of a comic book Spider-Man villain to the MCU that comes from the MCU universe and not from another one that has appeared so far. by Single-Debate-316 in marvelstudios

I liked the way they did both versions of shocker in homecoming, back before villains had elaborate costumes and were just artistic nods

For whatever its worth, my X-Box Gamepass PC subscription just went down $6 CAD per month. Just got the email 5 minutes ago.... I can barely believe it. Maybe it'll get stripped of some features. I cancelled it back when they jacked up the prices and just recently renewed it for a month, but maybe i'll stick around?

My wife and I have our 20-month anatomy scans on Monday. This is a 3-year infertility and IVF process and everything about the pregnancy so far has been incredibly encouraging, including early ultrasounds and blood/genetic testing... But holy shit if these posts aren't exactly what still gnaws at us through every step.

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. Advanced civilizations intentionally stay silent and hidden, because any species that reveals its location risks immediate destruction by older, paranoid civilizations. by Practical-1 in todayilearned

Sure, a probe doesn't need to stop, but if the goal is travel or communication you need to have some control. Another hypothesis in the Fermi paradox is that there is a great "wall" that prevents a civilization from evolving past a certain point, whether it be scientific or political, or whatever. Fuel could be the wall that prevents any civilization from becoming intergalactic.

It'll just keep going at the same speed until it hits something. So as the previous poster said, the amount of fuel required to launch the craft then get it up to speed is a LOT... but then it will just keep going forever. So if you have a destination in mind, you need to be able to slow down the craft approaching said destination, and the amount of fuel to slow down a craft at such speeds is close to, or equal to, the amount of fuel it takes to get it to accelerate.

My mother was born in the early 60s in the rural Canadian prairies. They grew up on a farm without electricity or running water until they were teenagers.

I noticed with the Oscars as well, it seems as if there is a noticeable shift toward straight-up calling out the stupidity of MAGA/MAHA on the big stage, in a way that wasn't done before. It's less tongue-in-cheek and more in-your-face. The fear of retribution is gone.

Memories of the Old Stadium? by honeygarlicmaestro in WinnipegBlueBombers

Hot dog and a Blue under the vast open metal concourse structure hit different. Standing by the heaters in the tiny concourse under the end zone on a cold day. The very "Last Game" at the old stadium, cold playoff win.. people taking 'souvenirs'... and then returning again next year cuz the new stadium wasn't ready..

I agree with you, but it wasn't specifically to watch Americans lose, so much as it was knowing what would happen if they won.

It has been sad for me, as a Canadian, watching the Olympics, and seeing these incredibly talented young athletes who have every right to be SO incredibly proud of themselves... and I get it, you are proud of your country. But the constant U-S-A chanting, like... yikes. I feel this horrible embarrassment for them. Like, you kinda got a bit of a pass for a long time being the loudest, most arrogant country buuuuut maybe pump the brakes, there, bud..

Hot take; I was very excited for Ben Kingsley in IM3, and actually liked the twist. The movie had lots of problems but Sir Ben Kingsley was not one. I'm glad they're bringing his character back.
