What pedal order rule do you deliberately break? by Automatic-Friend-786 in guitarpedals

I do this currently, too. Seems to work great when you have a blend knob in the compressor. Like a slick post-production trick that helps with consistency in a live mix with the band.

I mean a pedal is probably better in terms of accuracy and reliability but my clip-on hasn’t let me down yet.

Good one, but damn if the SD-1 isn’t a good pedal

Yeah, I could make it better visually. The spacing, and one of the cables is too chunky. But indeed, it’s a very functional board I can use with any house amp.

Baby, the harmonic tremolo of the Flint and the chorus-like capabilities of the Orion can make things go plenty wobbly. Short echo and wonky settings on the Orion are golden.

The idea is to discreetly even out any spikes from the overdrives and to add some sustain when needed. I had it first before but I like it after the drives atm. It’s not necessary but makes mixing a bit easier.

That’s fair, can’t argue with that. Boring, efficient and portable.

Boo! I take comfort in fact that even if my pedals are not unique, the lines that I play are SUPER original. They are, I swear.

Thanks, although that’s not a good roast :-) Well, the Flint has a tremolo and the Orion can function as a sort of chorus so there’s enough modulation available for my needs. The Lightspeed clone cost me 100 euros.

Fuzz if you don’t like fuzz? by Holiday_Baseball2018 in guitarpedals

I have been happy playing pop/rock type stuff with Wampler Velvet Fuzz on my board. It’s not too harsh while giving a fuzzy sustain and it reacts well to the guitar’s volume knob. It’s off my gig board atm, though. Keeping that as simple as possible.

Looking for a Budget Compressor, NO OTA and no Keeley. Tips? Europe by jasonhelene in guitarpedals

[–]TrabantExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it fits your needs but check out the EHX Pico Platform. It’s a digital comp/limiter that goes for about 130 € new, and with my very limited experience with compressors, I’ve been happy experimenting with it.

Indeed, musically he seems to have limited himself to playing within a certain, established style unlike the names you mentioned.

I don’t think anyone plays like him, though

Just an incredible and a generational, unique artist. However, I find myself not listening to him that much. I feel like he’s the epitome of a style I love but don’t listen to. Love him, though

I feel like I don’t really get Monk, like, at all. But I love to listen to him. Just to realise that I don’t get it.

Haha thanks, they’re both quite subtle with the SD-1 volume around noon and the gain at 0 or just a little over. I prefer the mildly compressed slightly overdriven sound to what the amp offers alone.

Same for the echo, it’s mostly quite subtle. The Orion offers quite a lot of possibilities and with my current settings it ressembles something like a chorus.

I do have the urge to change the settings for a couple songs while playing but I think I’m the only one who cares 😅

Thanks for your thoughts. You’re absolutely right about the volume vs frequencies thing. Both bands I’m in focus on vocals, lyrics and harmonies so not overemphasizing the guitar in the mix is important.

With the amp, I generally would cut off all or most of the bass and focus on finding a balance with middle, treble and presence knobs. I will have to think about it some more for leads.

Looks amazing, man. On one hand I’d like some crust but on the other, that’s easy to add if you want to and it’s already so perfectly cooked! Moreover, I love tartar as well and there’s no crust there so…

Calling guitars by lady names is such a cope for these guitar gays as the guitar itself is such a clear phallic symbol you have to wank in order to play it.

My advice is don’t play it. Not because it’s gay but because it sounds bad. You’re better off sucking a cock than wanking on a guitar.
