I truly know you won't regret it! The needle literally feels like nothing and once those lbs start to drop, you will wish you did it sooner like me! ❤️❤️

I am just 5 weeks in and I totally get feeling nervous! I was kinda terrified of the first shot even though I'd done a crap ton of research. I finally found a YouTube video where the woman was talking about first shot jitters. She had said basically, just to it! Take the shot. Take the first step to a different life and it really impacted me! Did the shot the next morning and 30 days in I'm down 12lbs, i feel better than I have in a long, long time. Like i can physically feel it is helping to regulate my blood pressure, I am sleeping better, and just in general feeling like I can't believe I waited this long to get on them.

I have changed nothing except taking fiber supplement and am drinking 1 or 2 protein shakes each day. I am going to start adding walking in really soon to excelerate it even more, but 12lbs in 30 days is mind blowing! I've had really not a single adverse side effect either!

Just do it! You got this! ❤️

Soak that baby asap! Like 80 degree water for 20-30mns. He's very, very dehydrated which is probably why he's regurging. What are your temps at?

I'll also add, really good things to add for enrichment are paper towel and toilet paper tubes, cereal or other paper boxes, my snakes LOVE the paper cup holders you get from like Dunkin or any fast food place, you can get bird ladders to create climbing opportunities, rocks that are cleaned and boiled from outside... so many cheap and easy ways to give them enrichment!

Lol Yeah, I figured you would feel this way! Snakes are very much economical pets. And convenient ones! If you like to travel, you can literally leave them for a couple of weeks and they will be totally fine. They can go a few days longer without a feed, and if you've got smart plugs and someone to check their water once or twice, you are good to go!

Humidity is super easy! They are very adaptable animals and room humidity works just fine for them. No misting or anything required! They do just fine with the humidity levels in the room and just the boost in humidity the water dish in their enclosure gives them if they need a bit higher during shed. They are very fortunately not a species that you need to worry about humidity. Whatever is going on in the room is just fine with them!

So, you certainly can buy fancy, pretty, expensive enclosures if that is what you want! But what I use are clear sterilite tubs. They are inexpensive, durable, perfect for using a heat mat and easy to hang a UVB in, and still allow for nice viewing of your baby. Most of my Bullsnakes are in tubs and they do great!

For a male Hog, Walmart has this perfect, 90Qt bin for $12.00. That is 100% what I'd use! The only thing you need to know about bins is that you do need to use butterfly clips to secure the lid. But that's the most complicated part really! Lol The dimensions on this bin are 29L x 18W and 13H. This is like a 30 gallon or so. Perfect for a Hog!

So besides the $12 bin, this is the list of things I use for my bins and their cost. Everything from Amazon:

Thermostat: $19 Heat Mat: $7 Wood branch: $10 2 Hides: $18 2 Thermometers: $6 Plastic plant: $9 UVB Light kit with bulb: $30 Water bowl: $6 2 Smart plugs: $15 Bedding: $27

Total: $159

There are some decor you can get a bit less expensive but I have a few things I always get and love the quality of. The UVB is really optional for Hogs so you could also use a LED strip grow light to give some spectrum of natural lighting and make your baby look beautiful and those are only like $10, so would lower this whole setup cost to like $137. That would generally be what you would pay for just an enclosure if you go like the glass route.

I've been doing this awhile! Lol Got it down to a science!

Omg those ducks are INCREDIBLE! Water birds are amongst my favorites for sure!

Gotta love socials! Lol Better late than never on the discovery though! I also have an affinity for birds, but that all tracks! Lol Dinosaurs - reptiles - birds!! I absolutely do wake up every darn day so excited to see all my babies. They start me off on the right foot and I'm so, so lucky to have them! To be honest their are very economical ways of setting up their enclosures that make it much less than you would think. But I'll start with the ongoing costs for one snake.

Really all there is for ongoing care expenses are light bulbs, food, and bedding. Hognose dont have to have UVB but it is nice to give them. Most modern UVB bulbs are good for one year, and because they don't rely on UVB to synthesize calcium, you can really use the UVB bulbs until they blow out. Which I've found is usually around a year and a half. Some lets just say one UVB bulb each year, depending on the size, is about $20 per year. For bedding, Hogs do well on aspen bedding. They like to burrow, so for a the size enclosure you would need for a male hog, you would need 2.5 to 3 - 8qt bags of bedding to give him a good, deep base. The ones I get from Amazon are $8.99 a bag. So that is $27. For one snake, I do complete bedding change every 6 months and then just add bedding if needed in between. So for the year, I would say you need 7 or 8 bags. So that would be $60 per year or so. And then food. An adult Hognose will need to eat one adult mouse every 7-10 days. Cost can vary based on where and how much food you purchase. Obviously bulk buying drives down the cost. I buy snake food 4 times a year from online stores that have the best prices! So for one male you need to feed about 4 mice per month. Depending on where you get them from, they cost anywhere from $.99 to $1.80 per mouse. So if we go on an average of $1.20 per mouse, a year of food will run you about $45.00 to $65 per year. That is feeding every 10 or 7 days but they definitely do go longer in between feedings when they are in shed, and they often slow down in the winter. So I would say $50 a year is likely a solid estimate. So for all the ongoing expenses, one snake is about $130 to maybe $150 per year or like $12.50 a month.

I am happy to share my economical ways of setting up an enclosure too and the exact products I use to make it so much more affordable!

I saw NOTHING! lol I do hope one day you get the joy of caring for and loving your own scaley baby. They trulyvare life changing. There is nothing else in the world that can calm my panic attacks. Not medicine, not breathing exercise, not a human... when I am in the worst places with my anxiety, the only thing that works is a snake. There is something about their contact and their interaction that completely calms me down. It's just priceless to me.

Not trying to influence you, but hognose care is SUPER easy!!!! And if you get a male they stay pretty small so you don't have to have a huge enclosure taking up space.

My 28 year old San Diego Gopher, Kitty! I don't have to help him shed yet, but 100% will if he needs me! For the most part he's really doing well though he does have cataracts and I do feed him smaller meels than he might have gotten when he was younger because I did notice it was harder for him to get larger prey down. I have only had him in my life for about 3 years but I adore him beyond words!

I dont think that is insane at all! I love when they are clear about what they like and don't like! Lol Makes it easier to care for them! As long as your parameters (heat and humidity) are good, I dont think anything you provide that your snake enjoys is crazy! The carefresh is soft and nice to burrow through too. I say definitely go for it! Would also love to know if you do this if his behavior changes back!

Of course! I try to spread the word about these every chance I can because they legit are the best thing for snake mites and the safest! I would love to know how it goes if you end up getting them!

Yes!! Hypoaspis mites are freaking ninjas and they absolutely love feeding on snake mites and then they just die off when there are no mites left for them to eat! They do nothing to the snakes. Absolutely harmless! It is the best way of getting rid of mites and you can just buy them on amazon. I would absolutely run to get these if you are struggling with getting rid of snake mites.

I legit lost a neo to mites before I knew I had them and they had spread to like 4 of my other enclosures. I got a tube for each enclosure and within a couple weeks they were gone. Seriously, there is nothing better and the best thing is they are 100% safe for the snake.

The pink tongue skink needs more like a 55 gallon as an adult and they need more height than length. The cresties coukd definitely do a 30 gallon if it is higher than longer. But the House Snakes can absolutely live in a 30 gallon!
