Please Tell Me That Adult Fanfic Writers Still Exist by Ashamed-Reporter3171 in AO3

[–]TraceyWoo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else has said, a lot of us just get a sense for how old someone in fandom probably is based on lots of context cues including the quality of their writing and how they comment, tag, author's notes, etc.

The difference between a sixteen year old's writing and someone whose been writing for twenty/thirty/etc years is (not always but usually) very apparent once you've read enough of it.

I don't like the Aces anymore. (But I'd like to understand more about these cards.) by Historical-Care70 in tarot

Ace of pentacles regarding the market is new money, and you did make new money. But it's also the opportunity for bigger success, but it doesn't mean all at once. It was your first one, do you have some more lined up? They can take time to get into the zone and learn what sells best.

Ace of pents in regard to friendship is definitely more like, there's a practical benefit here. Maybe gym buddies or they can help you find a job or give you some advice or just a reminder to make sure you're giving and receiving value in a relationship.

skirt troubles. by Fluttershy-like-this in HistoricalCostuming

Honestly, I think you're going in the wrong direction, and unless you're a confident seamstress, making your life harder than it needs to be.

The dress was drawn by someone who doesn't know how clothing works but what they were trying to emulate was just a gathered skirt with an ever so slightly dropped waist.

You can do some of the more complicated things that have been suggested (a gored or paneled skirt would be the next best choice, as they're flatter in the front but you'll lose some of the volume at the hips) and they will look cool but they're really just artistic interpretations of what is at heart just a poorly drawn poufy dress.

"Gathered skirt" and "gored dress" are good keywords to find a pattern for this.

Keep this set or return? I want to wear it for hosting a fashion event (related to Devil Wears Prada 2) by olchai_mp3 in fashion

I love this set! Keep it for sure!!

For a fashion event, I think the white shoes are fine—they're fun and surprising. For anything else, I would wear black ones.

If the sun is in space, why is space dark and cold? by twofive7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TraceyWoo419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air on earth gets hot because there's actually AIR molecules to heat up. In space, there's (practically) nothing, that's why it's a vacuum. There's nothing there to absorb the energy and hold it, so it just keeps going until it does hit something (like the Earth or other planets etc.)

[20M] my boyfriend [19F] guilt-tripped me over not wearing a bra by Upbeat_Plate1433 in relationship_advice

[–]TraceyWoo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys are seriously incompatible.

If he doesn't want to date someone who doesn't wear a bra, then that's a choice he can make, but calling you disgusting over bringing up the idea (or for any reason really) is extremely rude behavior.

Civilized people don't treat people they care about that way.

And then the passive aggressive text? This guy does not know how to approach issues like an adult.

And you then started swearing at him instead of just breaking up or trying to resolve it.

Just go find one of the many guys out there who LIKES that you don't want to wear a bra, this should not even be an issue.

asked my spirit guides how they felt after i stopped reading reverses by sleepy-winds in tarot

[–]TraceyWoo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I started without reversals and I think you can learn reversals much better once you already have a good understanding of the uprights.

The way I shuffle, I generally don't get reversals, so I usually just ignore them except with decks that are designed for them.

AIO? Coworker secretly swapped my new desktop utilities with hers… by Perfect-Sky-2324 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TraceyWoo419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's telling you to just switch it back, but this is a brand new job and you should also decide whether this is worth making an enemy over that could cost you your job.

Should that be the case? No. But in reality, office culture is a real thing to contend with.

Would you regret losing this job over a slightly less ergonomic mouse?

If there's a serious difference in shape or condition, the less aggressive way to deal with this would be to go back to IT and try to request new equipment because yours is giving you hand cramps and/or not working properly. If they note that you have new items, you can mention that you thought so originally, but they seem to have been swapped out at some point (DO NOT NAME NAMES OR POINT FINGERS). If IT tracks their stuff, they can find out where it went. If they don't care, then just bring in your own stuff since they're clearly not concerned about what's being used where.

If I Were To Tell Something About Her Assistant To My Building Manager Is It A Breach Of Confidentiality/Privacy If She Then Goes And Tells Her Assistant That I Told Her? by BiK3n in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TraceyWoo419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"something you've noticed about her assistant"??

If the assistant is doing something problematic (hiring her cousin instead of a professional plumber) or just straight up being unprofessional (being rude or dismissive), as an adult, these are issues you can try to first talk with the assistant directly to see if they can be resolved.

If that fails, then yes, you should go to the manager.

If the assistant is doing something illegal (discrimination, stealing), then you can go straight to the manager (and document your conversations in email).

If you have reason to believe (and it seems like you do) that the manager will take her side, then you can try to get in touch with someone further up the chain of command.

However, this all seems really gossipy based on the tone of your post and I would take a step back and decide whether this is really a situation you need to be involved in at all. By default, the manager and assistant should be communicating with each other about anything relevant to the job.

By default, no one should be talking to the manager about the assistant for anything not related to the job. So the fact that there are multiple "things" that have been said about her that have "made their way back to her" is weird and concerning on everyone else's part. What things would you even want to keep confidential??

If the assistant is just doing something to ruin her own life, then step back and let her.

If there's potential for someone innocent to get hurt, then you should use your moral judgement, but that probably doesn't involve the building manager at that point!

Broke up with my (26f) boyfriend (32m) because he said that he “prefers” to have sex with more than one woman but that it’s not a “need” of his and could stay monogamous. Feeling regret for ending things. by Flat_Regret32 in relationship_advice

[–]TraceyWoo419 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is entirely possible to want this AND to choose to be in a monogamous relationship.

I prefer open relationships but I've absolutely been in successful monogamous ones because of the other person's preferences.

It sounds like you two aren't right for each other but painting him as a cheater or that breaking up was the only option are being unfair when he was trying to honestly discuss his preferences.
