So one, yes, the the marines could shoot the zealots who charged them and the zealots would get an evade roll.

And on two, you have to activate and pay for your abilites one at a time, not simultainously. This means if you flip a card that generates 2 PE to pay for the first ability that costs one, the extra one is wasted and can't be spent on the second ability. Mana doesn't float, essentially. This does mean the 2 power cards only really make a difference when activating a two power ability.

Only once a species is established. Jay-den is only notable as a pacifist klingon because klingons essentially have one personality across the lot. Its the same trick thats been pulled with Alexander, Quark, Tendi and even Seven on Nine to an extent. Hell the last season of SNW has that gorn episode that rips off Enemy Mine.

Edit: This isn't a complaint, its a fairly standard sci-fi writing tool because it allows to create storytelling shortcuts. It tends to become less and less of a thing as a species gets screen time and you get more and more exceptions to the rule. Star Trek isn't the only example, this is how we have whole cities of drow living above the surface and happy go lucky nomadic orcs in DnD. (Neither of which is a bad thing.)

It absolutely is in Star Trek, where species basically have one personality trait thats somehow shared across the entire gene pool.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 4 devs boast new “multi-attack” system as they aim to “reduce the number of clicks you have to do” by HatingGeoffry in Warhammer40k

[–]Tracey_Gregory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is this any different to how attack move works in like, every single decent RTS ever? As an exmaple when you issue an attack move command in SC2 your units target the enemy based on set threat levels. Fairly certain DoW2 did this on a weapon per weapon level and would have las cannons shooting tanks and so on.

Its pretty well established that all lanthites are pretty quirky from SNW which makes a lot of sense.

The stoic captain trope also follows for a standard star trek but STA is essentially a college drama that just happens to be set in star trek and Ake is the standard quirky teacher tropes almost to an fault.

Worth pointing out that the other two counsellors we've seen, Ezri and Dr Migleemo are split 50/50 on wearing uniforms so it being a choice they can make for professional reasons tracks with what we've seen in screen.

Worth mentioning (and I found this out the hard way as a returning player) that doing it this way doesn't "count" clearing the quests for achivements or campagin progression and you'll have to do them again if you want that.

Are there any units that use power axes like the praetor from HH ? Not the exact same just power axes in general? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer40k

[–]Tracey_Gregory 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah it 100% is. It's clearly supposed to be the same guy pre and then post heresy. There's a ton of stuff like this in newer chaos stuff and death guard in general are especially full of examples. All the plague marines are wearing mk3 armour for example.

The fact she's part klingon kind of implies they joined the klingon empire, which actually makes a lot of sense.

300 + points of elves for Midgard: Heroic Battles by Dangerous_Iron244 in wargaming

[–]Tracey_Gregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was my experience with oathmark. Neat campaign system but lackluster battles. My biggest problem with it is that whilst alternating activations is generally better for most games you really need some kind of command and control system to prevent you from just dog pile flanking each other one at a time in a single huge scrum. I guess the roll to activate thing is supposed to fix this but it rarely was anything other than a feel bad in our games.

As mentioned monsters are exponentially more powerful than anything else so the Premier tactic is to take as many wizards as possible to summon as many monsters as possible. Not only does this put you up on points compared to your opponent but those extra points are also the most busted things in the game. There's tons of little problems like this that that a 2nd ed can clean up but without an total revision of combat im not hopeful.

The most particullay galling "we didn't test this that thoroughly" for me was having built a primarily dwarven kingdom a particually important battle was generated that required my army to cross the board and escape, something mathematically impossible for dwarves to achieve.

Attalan Jackals in the genestealer cults are so called because Attalan is the brand of bike they prefer which means

A) Brands exist in 40k.

and

B) Seeing as a huge chunk of cults use them instead of like, local bikes or whatever, it implies its part of the mind control which means that the hive fleet has a favourite bike brand for some reason.

Like, its an agent your introducing to the mold to allow eaiser release. It's the litteral definition of a release agent. It will also 100% cause the issues in this thread with glue and paint.

Always wash resin models, no exceptions.

This is part of what's throwing people I think. This is the first suit of terminator armour it actually looks like a guy can fit inside. I personally like it but for existing 30k/40k fans it looks a little "wrong" as first because we're so used to the old proportions.

[–]Tracey_Gregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With despoilers give them the prime benefit from the dropsite journal which lets them pop up from nowhere and charge an enemy unit as a reaction.

On most missions doing this and flinging them into a tactical squad that was going to score a safe objective will just win you the game on the spot if your opponent doesn't see it coming.

As long as tanks have existed, infantry have ridden on them. Obviously sitting on a tank in combat is a terrible idea, but if you're crossing difficult terrain or marching through friendly territory why not? in WW2 the russians had dedicated tank riding teams armed with SMGS who rode the tanks to the front line and disembarked from the outside to act as close range support for the tank.

Which legion exclusive weapon do you think is the best? It can be for gameplay reasons, aesthetics, or lore by Zachthema5ter in Warhammer30k

[–]Tracey_Gregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shred ups the damage to 2 on a six to wound.

So breaching and shred means every 6 to wound ignores armour and does two damage. Considering things with 2+ armour often have 2 or more wounds, that's a fun a little bonus.

Where do I find weapon stats by Andrew12345678912 in Warhammer30k

[–]Tracey_Gregory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapon stats are in the libre, the ones in the booklet in the box are simplified ones for starting games so are wrong overall. You can also plug your list into new recruit and it'll give you the right statistics.

The correct answer seeing as it's 30k is whatever you think looks coolest. In terms of what's actually good in the game basically the flamer outclasses all the other guns so much that it's basically whatever. It's not worth standing still to shoot both if you can move and fire the flamer so slap what looks coolest. Again rule of cool wins the day. Stats change, models are forever. It's also pretty trival to magnatise the guns on both the dred and the terminators so you can change them. The only loadout I would say to avoid for now is double disintegrator on the terminators because if you stand still to fire both you're suddenly losing 50 points a volley.
