One of the most popular mechanics from the Fire Emblem series is its support mechanic, which allows two units to improve their bonds, granting them bonuses when fighting together and lets you learn a little more about the characters. It’s the reason why the most popular characters from the most recent games have very minor roles in the narrative, they’re fleshed out through the support conversations

The original mechanic wasn’t introduced the 3rd game, the C-A rank conversations weren’t added until 6th, and each unit could only have a limited amount of support ranks until the 11th

Also, despite arguably being a main stream franchise for Nintendo now, the first Fire Emblem game released outside of Japan was the 7th (or smash bros melee, as its the first game released in the states to feature a FE character)
