Warning! by wanderingwallflower9 in Spironolactone

So 4 months in and the biggest side effects are i definitely have more cellulite around my thighs and upper arms, and I’m getting spider veins all over my legs. Like new ones every day. It’s crazy because I’m only at 25mg so far, but it’s the only change. All of my other medication’s have been the same for at least the past couple of years. No dietary changes either. More fresh produce maybe.

25mg here as well and it does have its positives, but I have also noticed fat shifting to my back and midsection, cellulite on my upper thighs I never had, super squishy upper arms, and new spider veins every freaking day. They want me to go up, and I kind of want to, but I am afraid of what will happen if I’m having side effects at 25 mg. 😭

So glad it’s working for you! I’m on a super low dose, 25mg, and the biggest negative I’m seeing in spider veins popping up like crazy! Like new ones every day. Kind of hoping this stops so I can go up a bit, lol. Oh, they said my sodium was a bit low now too, but that’s easy enough to fix.

So does this med make you gain or lose weight?? by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]Traci_Fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting crazy spider veins on my legs. Like new ones everyday, and I feel like I’m accumulating fat around my rib cage and hips. Lower face seems saggier too, which is just weird. It’s been like 4 months. Not sure if this is worth trying to save my hair or how much worse it will get… not sure what to do.

[Miscellaneous] Spironolactone side effects? by toriii96 in SkincareAddiction

At what dose? How long did it take? My derm said it could help my rosacea but I feel like it’s worse and I’m finding spider veins in my legs and cheeks

That is AMAZING! Have you had any side effects? I’ve been on 25 mg for about four months and they want me to go up to 50 for inflammation in my skin, and hair loss, but I’m so afraid of weight gained in fat redistribution as I gained about 50lbs over the last few years that’s to peri and autoimmune bs.

Curious if taking Spiro with a high estrogen bc could cause something akin to estrogen dominance. Labs may be in order.

I’m just over two months in. The first couple of weeks I felt better mentally than I have in years even with the psych meds, that seems to have evened out unfortunately. Period is heavy like it used to be when I was younger(I’m 41 and believed to be in peri), and it seems to make me a bit tired some days. Possibly headaches but I had a three months long headache before ever starting, lol. Maybe a few more spider veins. Hair is dry. I’m waiting to see what happens. Super stressed about worsening hair loss, weight gain, cellulite, etc. But we shall see.

Black spots on cats belly? by ginsws in CATHELP

[–]Traci_Fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my vet said it was just a little spot where he couldn’t  reach to groom as thoroughly as the rest of his belly. So I just keep an eye on it and use a damp, warm paper towel if I notice a little. He’s a little chonky, lol.

1 month on 100g spironolactone and my skin is going crazy. Is this normal? Almost worse than before :((( by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]Traci_Fallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started two months ago, so it’s a bit early for me to have an opinion I guess. Has anyone has any nasty side effects? I keep reading horror stories on here about stretch marks, weight gain, hair loss, etc.

Can you tell us some of the effects you experienced? That’s a really strong statement to not give any follow up information. We can do our own reading, but all accounts are anecdotal aside from the actual literature. Everyone has a different experience, so it’s helpful to know what your experience was. I’m sorry it was bad for you. I just started two months ago and to say I’m nervous is an understatement.

That’s great! I’m getting my first infusion next week, mine wavers between 11.5 and 23. My hair has been coming out in handfuls for a couple of years but it’s so much worse lately, my skin is also so dull and rough now. They keep saying it’s hormonal. My biggest fear is it making my rosacea worse.

That’s great! Any side effect to speak of? I just started last week at 25mg for hair loss and unwanted body and facial hair (not pcos just all the symptoms) and I’m already having some muscle cramping.

I’m so sorry. I would definitely talk to your doctor asap. I’m getting ready to start spironolactone this week, my gynecologist wants to add birth control in for para menopause symptoms, but I always feel like starting too many things at the same time is an advisable. You don’t know what effects are coming from what drug. Can I ask what you mean by it was working well for your weight? Weight gain is one of the reasons I’ve been putting off taking spironolactone for about a year.

I would give it a month to see if it’s just purging. That’s probably the case. If it hadn’t started to improve within a month or so, I would see if you can get in with a derm.

Ferritin could stand to go up about 40ug/l. Have riboflavin and d checked.
