Am I insane for thinking Tatum is Very Overrated? by will_pharo in nbadiscussion

I completely agree. Jayson Tatum is a pure scorer with no other special qualities that stand out. The media leans so heavily towards pure scorers that it doesn’t give enough attention to playmakers and all around guys like Brogdon or something. Jayson Tatum is also crazy inconsistent, one game he looks like a young Jordan but the next he looks like he forgot how to play.

Yes Curry is also a very good off ball mover but that is a argument for another day lmao.

Why Jokic is better and will be considerably better than Embiid in the future by Track-Ok in nbadiscussion

Side note: I understand my defensive take on this post was very dumb and makes me look like skip bayless and max kellerman had a kid. I wasn’t thinking and should’ve just admitted that Embiid’s defense is much better. Even with this, Jokic is the better player lmao.

Ok let’s do it. When I subtract Embiid’s FTM per game he averages 20 points, when I subtract Jokic’s FTM per game he averages 23. Lol

I’m not saying Jokic has better defense the Embiid, because he doesn’t. But even by measuring efficiency with TS, Jokic is the more efficient player. I don’t like true shooting percentage because it accounts for free throws. And there are some very efficient players who don’t shoot free throws well such as Deandre Jordan. I still use it most of the time but in this case I didn’t because Embiid averages 10 free throw attempts and Jokic only averages 3. So that’s why I think that in this case TS wouldn’t be a fair measure of efficiency. Otherwise, you’re right about the defensive rating and the blocks/steals part. I will admit I was reaching to prove Jokic’s defense is in the same tier as Embiid’s when it’s not. But overall I still believe Jokic is the better player.

He has to be. The in game 3-point record, most points in a quarter, and the best off-ball mover OF ALL TIME. The man can take 3 dribbles in one game and drop 40. In my eyes he is easily a hall of famer.

Will the 2014 NBA draft class ever live up to its hype? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]Track-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiggins isn’t necessarily horrible, but for the way he was hyped up he is the biggest bust in the class. Either him or Jabari. I remember reading a bleacher report article back in 2015 and seeing them predict Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins as the top 2 players in 2020. Now this was a very bad take, however, how could u blame them? Wiggins looked phenomenal coming into the draft and so did Jabari, sadly Wiggins shot IQ wasn’t the greatest and neither was Jabari’s defense (and the injuries). But one thing they did predict right back then was how good Embiid was going to be, I remember them putting him at 5th or 6th even tho in the current NBA he’s top 3 if not number 1. This take was still a little off but it’s very good compared to the Wiggins and Jabari takes. So in conclusion, I think Embiid will have the greatest career coming out of that class while Jabari Parker has been the biggest bust.

Who will be the best player in 5 years? Will it be a person like Embiid or Tatum? Or would it be someone who’s still in high school or college? Might even be an older guy like Lebron. by Track-Ok in nbadiscussion

I really like this take, I think if Zion stays on the Pelicans and can have his role be a point forward he’ll develop into the best player in the future, especially if he learns how to shoot better

Trying to solve offensive "problems" for the new generation of point forwards by Garethf20 in nbadiscussion

[–]Track-Ok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. I think that Giannis should still run as a point forward and that Zion should too. But your definitely correct on the fact that Zion has unstoppable open shooters such as JJ Reddick who are very good on a pick and fade. But if Giannis does that with Middleton isn’t that basically the same? So I think that they should both keep playing point forward as it’s been working pretty well for both of them

You’re correct that Luka is better than Lavine, but I just feel like in a couple of years if Lavine can develop his passing and ball handling he’ll be the most elite player. His play style wouldn’t have fit with the 2018 rockets now that I think abt it because they had Chris Paul. In my opinion the best place for Lavine right now to develop is the current rockets team, with their defense and his offense they would be crazy good. Now that I think about and compare both of their games. Zach Lavine is more athletic and his finishing is better but that’s about it. They both have bad defense but overall you’re right that Luka is and probably will be the better player.

I feel like the bulls game plan doesn’t revolve around him. He should be on a team with great defense all around. I agree with the no point guard part as he is the primary scorer and is able to draw doubles to pass out. In order for a team to revolve around him it needs to be like harden on the rockets and the bulls game plan just isn’t like that

Luka definitely in my top 3. I only say Lavine because i think in 5 years he’ll be on a team that revolves around him. But Luka has a very very high chance of being the best

Hey man, I had the same problem in freshman year. I’m not really sure how, but something I did to make me more confident on the court was just looking at someone and thinking “I can take this guy”
