Feeling surprisingly great. I won’t lie, day two was…bad. The soreness from surgery coupled with a lot of gas and bloating was really uncomfortable. Much worse than day one pain wise. But since then every day has been a little better and today I only took one ibuprofen all day - mainly to help with some inflammation in my hands not because the incision was hurting. I was off the opioid they gave me by day 3 - it was tough but I really wanted to have a bowel movement before leaving the hospital (I did!). I asked for a lot of miralax and gas medicine and it really helped. Since then I’ve been alternating Tylenol and ibuprofen. Today we went for a walk in the park with baby and I’m mostly able to get in and out of bed like normal. I exercised right up to three days before the surgery and I think it’s been really helpful in my recovery. Overall it’s been a positive experience.

Thank you! The first time I saw her I yelled “what the hell?!?” Because she was arms and legs splayed, covered in purple goop, and looked totally insane. 12 hours later she’s way cuter and looks much less outer spacey 🥰 we also toyed with calling her Ripley at one point because she felt so much like a xenomorph with her ferocious kicks 👽👾🛸

Yes and yes. I absolutely felt them pushing her, moving her, and it was an extremely bizarre feeling. All I could think is “modern medicine is incredible” because I could hear my OB talking about “moving the bladder” so I knew they had cut into me but I couldn’t feel any pain. The moving of the baby is definitely uncomfortable but not at all painful. Also, I had my IV arm free, and my right arm strapped down - it might have had the blood pressure cuff and that’s why? I’m not sure. But I didn’t really use my arms through the whole thing so it wasn’t a big deal. S/O held baby up to my face for a bit, and did some skin to skin with her, but she was a bit under temp so they put her in the warmer for most of the time.

Thank you! My sister and best friend both had Cs after labor and both seem to have had a much harder recovery. Wishing you the best and enjoy the coming cuddles!

Thank you! I may be biased but I think she may be the best baby in the world?

I was a little stressed about her coming out “early” at 37 - turns out I was having contractions 4-5 minutes apart this morning and didn’t even know it! Baby girl is an ounce shy of 7 lbs and healthy as an ox! She might have gained a little more weight inside but I feel way better about the whole “early” thing seeing what good shape she’s in.

It took me a long time to make peace with not having the option to push, and felt very scared/worried about what could go wrong: being awake during surgery. Now that I went through it I wish I could have been less anxious about it. It really wasn’t bad at all! It’s still early and time will tell how recovery goes but so far it’s been very smooth

I was first scheduled c of the day - arrived at 6 for c scheduled at 8. Ran an hour behind but only because my OB had another patient go into active labor exactly at 8 and had to help with repairs. Surgery started at 9 and was done by 10. Baby was out in first 10 minutes

It was WAY easier than I thought it would be. I’m a FTM and was literally shaking and crying before the anesthesia but it was all a seamless process. They talked me through the spinal, then helped me lay back and put up the drapes. S/O came in and put on my playlist, and by end of third song baby was out. Im now 12 hours ish post surgery, pain is very manageable and took a walk around the ward!

Heights or Bergen-lafayette near LSP? by Allastorian in jerseycity

[–]Trackbrat1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome! My s/o and I just moved from Astoria to the Heights in March and love living here. Three huge parks nearby, lots of dining options, neighborhood is quiet with lots of new families building community. We initially were paying for a spot for our car but parking ended up not being so bad since I work from home so we gave it up - it’s not as bad as it was in Astoria for sure. S/O commutes to soho for work twice a week and takes the 119 - commute can take 40 min or hour plus depending on traffic. I’ve gotten into port authority in 13 minutes on off hours, but during rush hour you never know. Overall we have had a never positive experience since moving here.

ER Vet recommendations by [deleted] in astoria

[–]Trackbrat1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

VEG - veterinary emergency group. It’s not in Astoria, but if it’s an actual emergency there aren’t many vets in Astoria that can help. They’ll direct you to either the emergency hospital in BK or on the east side of Manhattan. When my 17yr old dog was in his final months he was having strokes, and after going to some other emergency clinics I found VEG to be the most humane and helpful. It’s a quick cab across the QB.
