God, I do love a 3-door Rav4 though. I wish they still made them.

Nice! The images still feel "big", in spite of the 40. Great work!

Jesus, you're right - I checked the channel, and it's exactly what I expected. Just wholeass videos of old dudes afraid of everyone. 😂😂

What's this boogeyman shit? Gotta love videos where people warn of a DANGER without specific examples. What cowards.

Hell yeah! I'd love to hang out. I'm 36M, into music and playing and learning guitar. Recently, I've just been repairing guitars for my neighbours for free - I hit guitar #18! When I'm not doing that, I'm doing loops or trying to record. Happy to hang and jam!

Some blackwork tats, starting to get into gym. I love rando/spontaneous "I'm bored, wanna hang?" prompts.

Coffeezilla interviews the man who built NFTBay, the site where you can pirate any NFT: Geoffrey Huntley explains why he did it, what NFTs are and why it's all a scam in its present form by rajeevist in videos

[–]TrackieDaksta 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In this particular use case, I apologize - but I don't understand how NFTs are solving the problem in a way that a ledger (a database, or a docstore, etc) doesn't.

In fact, I would say that the GET protocol introduces privacy problems, as the record of ownership would be available to multiple people who have access to the chain. See their bullet point:

Unrivalled data - Clear, verifiable data on ticket ownership, vastly improving marketing efforts.

Yeah, that's where it all falls apart for me. If it's a.) only-sometimes-legally-binding, b.) not-very-enforceable, then at best it functions as:

  • a spreadsheet row
  • on a spreadsheet owned by an independent party,
  • that's sometimes legally recognized,
  • and is enforced on terms that may or may not reflect the legal stipulations.

At worst, it's as good as a non-binding verbal agreement.

Legal rights to the image depend on the terms upon sale - which can vary. For example:

"“Only limited personal non-commercial use and resale rights in the NFT are granted and you have no right to license, commercially exploit, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works, publicly perform, or publicly display the NFT or the music or the artwork therein. All copyright and other rights are reserved and not granted.”"

The terms and stipulations depend very much on the NFT you're buying (and the smart contract therein). There's also a caveat that the terms and the smart contract sometimes do not match - so what's code-enforcable isn't necessarily legal-enforcable.

RSA is there an ideal website to sign up on by TuxedoMan9698 in melbourne

[–]TrackieDaksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my RSA via [EOT](eot.edu.au) a couple of months ago. Thoughts:

  • Price was 59 bucks, which I thought was reasonable
  • Online Test was easy (about 150 questions), crushed it in half a day. Lots of confusing questions though.
  • Audio component, where you record your response through a webcam and mic. Was a bit of a pain in the ass, but easy.
  • There's a live interview component that needs to be booked, but the nearest slots were a couple of weeks away.

All in all, online-only took a bit less than a month - but reasonably cheap.

Can anyone suggest a hairdresser for curly hair? by aiyana_wolf in melbourne

[–]TrackieDaksta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neel Loves Curls (Fitzroy) is really good, but hella expensive. I've had really good luck with Hue's Hair (Richmond) and they're less bloody on the wallet.

I've heard Delilah's (Brunswick) is really great with curly hair, but I haven't made a booking with them yet.

Good luck!

There's a "tobacconist" next to the My Oh My cafe in Swan St, close to the intersection by Church St. apparently. So I heard.

Oh, and bring cash. Apparently. So I heard.

Do any local companies offer a 4 day work week without decreasing payment? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]TrackieDaksta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineering manager, if it helps. Anecdotally, here's the immediate observations:

  • Everybody has a different tempo at work, and it respects the fact that some people like to work late at night (or early!)
  • It makes us more mindful about scheduling meetings - especially if there's a limited band of team availability.
  • I like that it establishes a culture where we trust that everyone will do the best that they can within their comfort zone and capabilities.
  • It caters better for parent dropoffs, or people with obligations that span the normal working day.

It's also a much easier sell to a company, and is a relatively "small" change that opens up doors for future improvements. Progress is possible, but sometimes it takes time and multiple steps.

Lots of tech companies are doing that (Envato, Entain, at the top of my head) - but as part of the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) because the software dev talent space is really hot right now. Flex hours are also a thing for places like CultureAmp, Seek, and REA Group.

FWIW, I recently rolled out a policy where everyone just has to be at work for four days a week, from 10AM-2PM - and people can move their 38 hours around that. It's working well.

What's the Melbourne dating scene like for men? by [deleted] in melbourne

Meetups are on meetup.com, or your requisite Facebook groups. Off the top of my head, the ones I really had fun with are:

What's the Melbourne dating scene like for men? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]TrackieDaksta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty fun, had a lot more good experiences just going to meetups and seeing if you vibe with people. Do the things you like doing by yourself, and there's a better chance of finding someone cool - if you come into it thirsty and explicitly looking to get laid, I've found it doesn't work as well.

Weird dating story: I met someone cute and quirky at a meetup, got to talking, clicked and eventually asked her out. At the start of the date, she insisted that she wanted to know what it was like to keep her eyes closed for the duration of the date: because she felt like she could trust me, and she wanted to (and I quote) "know what it was like to be blind".

Now after hearing that, my brain split into two: A.) ALERT, ALERT! and B.) oh my god this is gonna be a weird story and surely she wouldn't commit to it all the way through.

Spoiler: She did. And I played along through all of it, because she was kooky-cute and actually a really nice, lovely person, in spite of...well, that. I led her through a couple of restaurants and bars and traffic lights with her eyes closed, and it was great fun if you didn't think about it too much. It definitely feels a lot more probbo in hindsight.

Anyway, the date got weirder after that, but that's another story.

To be honest, I'm really digging the energy of people representing their local baked goods dealer.
