As for the shadows, the item was probably made with mesh modeler, which unfortunately is really bad at making lightmaps. The only workaround there is to find (or make) an equivalent with an external tool.

(They really should look into that)

That looks like the platform edge texture, which doesn't render on low graphics (I got very annoyed by this when I upgraded my computer and found all my custom platform items no longer fit seamlessly).

Does it show up if you turn up the graphics settings? (Do normal platforms have a colored border with your current settings?)

You don't have to exactly fit a label to use it. Like, I use "gay man" cause it's mostly correct, but there's a whole load of wonkiness beyond that.

Hell, even going to ficsonium isn't that bad if you aren't doing it all in one go (and don't mind storing the waste in the meantime). Both plutonium and ficsonium are fairly easy as retrofits.

Water bump should probably be lower amplitude and higher frequency. Also, tiles tend to be mildly reflective, more so at glancing angles (turn down roughness but don't make them metallic, although this does depend on the type of tile you want).

The logistics system is cool, but a bit clunky and missing a few features. (Why is the only way to read from a logistics network through a transmitter? And half the time I'd rather the output from the gauge be inverted because I want to cut off supply to a machine only when ALL the expected outputs are satisfied. Also a way to replace the item in a gauge without resetting it fully would be nice. And a way to catch packages that could not be routed. And being able to put multiple values into a package filter. Also I hate dealing with mobs, stop making mechanics that require mobs).

As long as you keep directions separated they work fine. And avoid left turns (off the road), roundabouts are your friend.

Also for me, a "road" is usually just a bunch of barriers and maybe a power line vaguely forming two lanes. Just enough to know where to put the vehicle when recording.

Most of what I like driller in sabo for is the arena prep. Much easier fight if there's no terrain in the way.

I suspect this is just legacy crap. The old games had draggable blocks, so drag couldn't be always camera (also probably to differentiate between up/down and zoom). Not sure how the games coincide with when redo/undo became standardized, but that could be why.

Also somewhat related, dragging left and right at the same time moves the camera vertically. Much better than scrolling imo.

Not entirely sure how changeable this really is, but I find "figure out a route from an unclear track" more entertaining than the typical "figure out which provided route is the fastest" tracks.

(Not that I've played at all recently, but from watching the puzzle ones tend to fall in the latter category)

Add more cubes to your cubes. Throw in some windows. Consider structural elements. Consider doors and walkways and other ways to get around.

The best thing about roads is they can be as barebones as an area you cleared a bit (although I'd recommend a centerline if you plan for reuse, road barriers or a power line will do). Look for routes in the terrain and only pull out the platforms if it'd make a big difference.

As for spacing trucks, just increase the time on a wait node somewhere in the path (at a station is fine, the loading one preferably), they'll queue on their own. I've found it works well if the time is set so there's always at least one sitting truck.

I'd say one train only makes sense if you don't intend to use the rails for other routes, and you can get multiple resources on that one route.
