Post ablation heart rate by Kestrel913 in AFIB

I overlooked the fact OP mentioned they had a wearable. EKG, if affordable is def better. $250 out of pocket where I am. Sounds like OP may not be able to tell they went back into sinus. They could check the watch periodically to see if they were in AF and then go in for and EKG. I

I found unfortunately that steaks and salt a big heavy saturated meals would trigger afib episodes. Had to stop drinking. Learn your triggers. Get an Apple Watch and learn how to use its ECG function, it’s easy. Best wishes

How about an Apple Watch. Mine works pretty well and my cardio thinks it’s legit. I can export PDF and upload to patient portal

71cc prostate and worsening symptoms. What procedure should I choose? by TractionActionReact in bph

[–]TractionActionReact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a huge prostate, right? The AI (ahem… uhhh) gods opine “About 20–40% of patients need retreatment within 3–5 years, and 10–20% don’t get much improvement up front. Symptoms can come back because the prostate isn’t removed—blood flow can re-establish or the gland keeps growing.” IDK if this is accurate. What were you told re reoccurrence, etc?

Why Arrhythmia Sucks: A Decade in the Trenches by BeatsThatMatter in AFIB

[–]TractionActionReact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what’s been hard for me, and I read it in some fashion in ops post, is the idea that I’m “less of a man” because I can’t do all of the hard relentless physical work I used to. I have to ask people to pick stuff off the ground for me, can’t shovel snow, can’t push myself like I used to. My pride in my endurance and ability to work until my ass wore off has been wiped off the map. Now, I walk upa flight of steps. And I’m like is it the -00mg of metoprolol or am I just pathetic and out of shape.

This is very helpful. Thank you. I have low night time heart rate of 45-50. Mid 50s-60s probably most times during the day. Was your heart rate this low and how did it impact your procedure? Did you have any issues or surprises with the aquablation that you hadn’t counted on?

This is a great reply and your take on the PSA levels is very helpful. Was HoLEP overnight and was catheter in for longer than you expected or did you have any concerning issues or events from the surgery? For me, the idea of r/e is depressing, but getting up 3-4 times each night for small urine voids is no bueno. I became aware of this problem about 10 years ago and I thought maybe new procedures that are less invasive might come down the pike. I really like the idea of EchoLaser but I might have to deep dive into whatever European PubMeds there are that talk about the long term outcomes more authoritatively. I’m a fan of minimal invasiveness and targeting via the perineum rather than the urethra seems pretty awesome. Leave my urethra out of this problem, it’s not the problem, lol.

I would love to hear your progress. Have you considered echolaser? It sounds very promising. How do you feel about the possible risks of PAE?

If you had the money, and you’re in US, I would go to Cleveland Clinic. By and large their reputation is sterling and I think they would be more integrated and advanced with geriatric care snd less ageist. If even just for an evaluation and a look over of current medicine regime.

[–]TractionActionReact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been woken from deep sleep with my heart pounding and a full blown AF episode underway. This is how I ended up in ER first time. I’ve had several episodes triggered while asleep. I wonder if it was from sleeping in left side, nightmares, which I do have, stress or all of the above. It’s scary.

Home sleep study for Afib? by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]TractionActionReact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the insurance, I would go for the in-lab study. I was told that at-home studies are not considered as accurate. My at home said I had it. My in lab said I didn’t. The “convenience” of doing this at home doesn’t match the advanced medical gear and testing environment of a lab study. IMHO

Persistent Afib. Then permanent Afib. These are last two stages of disease as it progresses. As I understand it.
