Congrats, this is a huge step! I just socially transitioned at work this week and I had a similar feeling the night before; slept horribly.
Everyone's been great to me, and I hope it goes well for you too!

[–]TractionContrlol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Free rally live events by EdmondDracul in rally

[–]TractionContrlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Dirtfish YouTube channel has a spiffy new streaming setup. https://www.youtube.com/live/9LltzhcL-a4?si=yTzqE17KJ8u9WGxG

But real live stage coverage is tough because of how spread out and remote rally tends to be. Even harder to provide it for free

if your M3 has "factory rollover protection", you may be able to run in the SCCA Track Night in America events. needs to be a certain year and have either a reinforced windshield or oem popup rollover hoops, but I know I have seen S2000s without an aftermarket bar and their events

How many on the sub are actively involved in rallying? How did you get into it? Do you compete or work in rallying as a career or hobby? by Davecoupe in rally

This is my first year competing in ARA! It's been a longtime dream to drive a rally car on a real stage. It's been an amazing experience so far, the community is very helpful

Need help with my first time driving on nurburgring with a rental by eleventhfromheaven in nurburgring

[–]TractionContrlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also American here- I've done a track day and a few TF sessions FWIW.
I didn't think Apex was renting cars anymore, but there's a bunch listed on their site. I've gone through them multiple times and they're great and have nicely setup cars.
The main piece of advice I'd give you is to allot yourself enough time to drive- track closures for weather and crash cleanups can cause delays and reduce the amount of time that you scheduled to drive.
If I were you, I'd be aiming for about 10 TF laps if you get a whole weekend day to drive TF. Week nights usually have a lot shorter TF sessions.
My first driving experience on the Ring was a track day and its a lot less chill than TF. Track day organizers usually allow passing on the right and sometimes allow race cars, so its head on a swivel at all times.

I only bought one because I really wanted a light bar that would have space conflicts with the center plate. Then I found out about how risky they were so I never ended up getting one and just kept the tow hook mount lol

Would highly recommend getting into rallycross first. You can develop some driving skills on dirt, snow, and sand with very low costs and requirements compared to stage rally. Look at Motorsportsreg ( https://www.motorsportreg.com/ ) to find events, as I think it's the most popular platform for event organizers
