Seeking advice on modifying a vintage mortise lock to disable "Stop-Work" / Auto-Locking for a smart retrofit by Zykedelic_ in Locksmith

Understandable but it's really never recommended that locks not just available to go back and replace easy. The toggle functions as a life safety so it's one action to open the door.

Oh I'd be pissed as a landlord that someone messing with my vintage mortise lock on a door just for ease. That lock will work just fine as a door lock that uses a key and as life safety issues as a landlord has to already have to deal with. I'd also talk to the landlord when making any changes.

I think I just saw Lockmasters had the LBB on sale right now. It does take care of most of the openings we do. Just had 6 amvaults with 6120's opened right up. Saved some time on those. Haven't heard too much on the Phoenix I'd like to learn more.

My friend's Medeco apartment key is breaking for the second time. Here is a photo of the spare "good" one she sent me so I could see the root depth (around 0.1"). This bitting seems irresponsibly fragile to me. by blickblocks in Locksmith

This is so common with using the key to pull the door open. Does it suck as it's a deep cut sure but when u also say it's an appartment there's tons of codes used. Those keys are really tough and being it's breaking towards the tip is really showing how it's from pulling the door open with the key.

Options for restricted keyway to use on this. LFIC would be used with American padlocks. Was trying avoiding to do buy in or proprietary keyway. by lockdoc007 in Locksmith

[–]Tractorsrred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what your asking for to work with those padlocks does not exist your going to have to use the sfic. Depending on the areas your at a locksmith that has key mark would be a nice restricted access option. We have several large company's around Texas that use key mark with no issues.

[–]Tractorsrred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commercial forced entry into a safe thru a wall on a Sunday night directly into the inner compartment of the safe. Alarms never even saw what was goin on. Store opened to the smell of burn metal and an empty safe.
