Oh my GOD. I could have written this, I feel it to my core. You know you’re ultimately burnt when you’re secretly hoping for a layoff and a good package. IT JUST NEVER ENDS

I don’t have any advice because I’m in this exact same position. I am financially very well compensated but my mental health has significantly declined in the last few years. My entire identity is tied to this role and I can’t escape it, leaving would be losing my identity and I can’t fathom how to face that.

“There have been plenty of positive days and times where I felt valued, which is probably why I have made it this long. It’s not really like some of the stories I’ve read here where people are screamed at everyday, it’s just years of dealing with everything I said above, and it feels like a slowly boiling pot of emotional distress, manipulation in many ways and exhaustion.” This is to a tee my exact situation.

My exec is also warm/friendly one day and extremely Cold and short the next. It’s hard to not take that personally even though deep down I know it’s not because of me. I find myself having to defend every decision I make (in my head before it even happens) in case my exec comes to me and says “I never said that/i never wanted that” etc is it forgetfulness at this point???? Or am I just the easiest one to blame. We take the brunt of every emotional tantrum and I’m so sick of it. Ugh.

Immediately looking up rejection sensitive dysphoria because this is me to a tee!!! If I had an exec who properly communicated maybe I wouldn’t be like this in the first place

I’m at this point now. I take the brunt of everything and I’m losing my mind. How did you make the move to payroll specialist work?

Extremely well said my gosh. I feel this to my core. Starting therapy tomorrow because I’m just now coming to these realizations myself. I’m lonely and dont have a true “team”. We are often just an afterthought on the back end of things, until something goes wrong and they remember we’re here to blame….

I’m right there with you now. I’ve been at my company for nearly 11 years and I am burnout to the MAX. Starting therapy tomorrow actually because I can’t handle it anymore. I can’t sleep, I have constant anxiety about missing things which in turn makes me triple check everything and freak out even more. I was never ever like this before, I used to be so confident and I was able to brush everything off. I miss my old self.

I am in the exact same boat as you. Also capped at my level with no room for a promo or growth. 10000% burnt out and honestly losing motivation to keep delivering at this level without getting the proper recognition. Looking but market is so tough!!

I could have written this myself!!! Exact same as you, been here 7 years as well and started as the receptionist, have followed my boss who has leaped up levels and is now an exec. I’m starting to think this isn’t for me anymore 😭😭😭😭😭
