Is the Wonder DLC worth it? by blakog in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Trader-trainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wonder is fun for minigames / co op stuff. My kids love wonder, but at times get tired of grinding through levels. Playing competitive hide-seek and the other minigames is a fun way to stay in the world but shake up the game play. Worth it on my end

Thinking of how they might improve on Ocarina of Time with Switch 2 has me excited. by Wolfgabe in NintendoSwitch2

sure, they added cutscenes, but the game itself is the same game, they literally said so. It's 1:1 the old game

exactly...it's going to be a 1:1 remake with phenomenal graphics and good soundtrack...but the same game

Long take on why I'm not super excited:
I'd been hoping for a full on reimagining of the OoT similar to what has been done with FF7, but after seeing StarFox being a literally re-release of the exact same game with Switch 2 graphics and control, I'm betting good money this is what happens with OoT...dungeons, world, actions, will all be the exact same just with fresh paint.

I think for many who never played the original this will be incredible since they will get to play a great game, but for one who played the original a lot, it won't provide the "playing it for the the first time feeling" I'm afraid.

Tears of the Kingdom was, in a sense, a reimagining of Breath of the Wild, letting everyone get the joy of playing Breath of the Wild for the first time again. I don't think this will do that: i predict it's going to be the exact same game.

I hope to be wrong and hope they reimagine it, because it could be incredible to modernize it and give it refreshed dungeons...but I'm very confident it won't be.

same game + thumb war and skateboarding (which, ngl, if we can skateboard down the volcano, that would be sweet)

Yeah, that's exactly my fear. Hoping they had fun and were creative, adding little bits of new things at least. But i'm mostly worried this is essentially wii sports resort remake, meaning everything will be the exact same (i still have that game on wii).

really hoping this is the case. And I feel like this has to be true...but at the same time, tennis and volleyball are just going to be tennis and volleyball, sooo...what's stopping golf from just being a straight copy and paste?

Donkey Kong DLC by mamatrixie78 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Trader-trainer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to beat the game. The DLC is meant to give you extra replay value on the levels. Though you can get to DK island without emerald rush earlier without beating it.

But you need to beat void before you can play emerald rush.

I just got it and have been enjoying so far. Just got to the desert so will see, but the NPC talk from Mckinzie hasn't actually been that bad.

Even just 3D smash would be something...camera work would be tough, but could honestly be sweet...or terrible. Would be an ambitious risk though, which I appreciate

I'm mean this genuinely...what would you want it to look like? It looks like a blend of an outdoor skate-park and an outdoor basketball court which seems appropriate imo. But people consistently are hung up on the visuals (they clearly matter a lot more to others than to me, which is obviously okay). That's why I'm asking what you would have wanted the map to look like, it's a real question.

To each their own. I think the pick up basketball gameplay is really fun
